I love working out. In fact just today I had a rather intense workout session. I lifted big then spent all my cardio time on this machine. It's so much fun to use!
This machine is perfect for all ages and fitness levels. Everyone from young athletes to the elderly, the Precor EFX546 will fit perfectly into your fitness regimen.
The EFX546 is the top of the line elliptical trainer that Precor offers. Precor says this machine was "Designed for heavy commercial use, the 546 features sturdy construction, Precors adjustable CrossRamp®, Touch Heart Rate, 8 programs, and 20 resistance levels." (quoted from the website)
At first I was slightly hesitant to use this machine because it looked kind of weird and the people on them looked a little dorky using it. But I was getting tired of always using the treadmill, exercise bike, or stairstepper for my warm up/cool down, so I decided to give it a try. The displays will help to keep you entertained. Watching the screen is more enjoyable than staring at the wall. Luckily, the gym I workout at has strategically placed a TV for our viewing pleasure.
Anyway, instead of wasting time on uncomfortable cross-country skiing or rowing machines try this revolutionary exercise product. Elliptical trainers have been out for a few years now but they are becoming increasingly popular. That's no wonder since they are easy to use (even for clumsy people), low impact, and it works a variety of muscles.
The EFX546 works any or all of the lower body muscles. Those being the quadriceps, hamstrings, calves, and glutes.
Since it is rainy and cold for the majority of the year up here in the Great NW, spending time in the gym on an EFX546 is a great alternative. But do not think you won't get wet, just 'cause you're indoors! This elliptical trainer will have you drenched in sweat!
The great thing is that since it is so low impact you will perceive a lower level of exertion. But you are in actuality still getting the same great workout you would as if you were running or bicycling outside. In fact, since you can focus which muscles you want to work and that you can move in two directions (forwards and backwards) I would say you probably get a better workout on this machine.
You can adjust the incline of the machine to focus on different muscles. You can also adjust the difficulty, making it harder to glide on the tracks.
Features:
- Heart Rate
- Quick Start
- Smart Rate
- Touch Sensitive Display
Electronic Readouts:
- Calories
- Calories Per Minute
- Incline
- Time
- Resistance Level
And much more!
There are 8 different pre-programmed courses to do. And of course there is the manual mode so you can make it as tough or easy as you want.
My Workout:
I am currently working on shedding about 10 pounds that I managed to pack on during the holiday season. I am determined to once again be in peak shape for the summer. Before finding the Precor EFX546 I would have to diet hardcore and run many, many miles. The average amount of time I would spend running was 45 minutes. Somtimes I would run upwards of 1 hour.
But using this machine I can burn more calories in less time (or the same amount of time to burn an epic amount of calories) and enjoy myself a lot more. For example, I only spent 20 minutes of cardio on this machine today (I didn't want to be late for work) and I burned nearly 400 calories! I usually spend 30-40 minutes doing aerobics five days a week. So you can see, that is a lot of burned calories! Which means I do not need to diet as strictly as before.
The Final Say:
As I'm sure you can tell by this review, I really enjoyed using the machine. You burn a lot of calories, it is low impact, there is lots of variety, and it is more enjoyable.
Overall, the Precor EFX546 is a great piece of equipment. It's not likely you can afford to buy for home use, but if you can then I recommend it! If your local gym doesn't have this elliptical trainer, convince them to get a few! This machine is A+ quality.
Hope it was enjoyable reading, TTFN! "Bring it around town!," and check out my other fitness review:
