Pros: Accurate heating for stovetop, generous size oven, love the grates on stovetop
Cons: Hard to clean, poor broiler placement, No self-clean feature.
I have owned this range for three years now. I have found the high-power burner to be excellent for bringing a pot of water to boil quickly. I have also found the low-power burner to be great for simmering sauces, etc.
One of my top reasons for purchasing this range is for how it performs, even when the power it out. We live in the country and tend to lose power with every storm, so I was very excited to replace my electric range with a gas. Every gas cooktop will work, usint a match to ignite the burner when the power is out, but the oven in most gas ranges will not work at all when the power is out. This oven can be lit when there is now power by practically climbing into the oven with a match, but it can be done.
The extra grate on top of the stove is handy for sliding large pots back and forth and for placing large (canning sized) pots on an otherwise too small burner. I do a lot of canning and can fit two oversized pots, a sauce pan and a stockpot on this stove, and nothing is wobbly. The stovetop grates are heavy, sealed cast iron and I have put mine in the dishwasher (this is not recommended) and they come out great.
Drawbacks - Mostly because of the grate, I have found the stovetop difficult to clean, just performing daily wipedowns. I do have one chip on the enamel of the stove top, but I also use heavy Le Creuset cookware and I'm surprised there's not more. I usually remove the grates to soak in the sink (or to the dishwasher) and use Grease Lightning on the cooktop. I also soak the knobs and burner tops. This is the best way to get everything clean, but I still have some spots on the enamel that remain dull looking and not shiny when I'm finished.
When the oven gets dirty, you are the cleaning cycle. I find that the oven cooks on the low side. There is a lot of "play" in the oven temperature knob (about 25 degrees), so I tend to turn the knob beyond the temperature I want and then come back to the correct temperature and this seems to help. I do not like that the broiler is on the bottom, it is hard to get to, hard to clean and for that reason I rarely ever use it.
I wish that I could put some kind of liner on the bottom of the oven to catch overflow and spills, but if you do this the oven will smoke you right out of the house, so clean up is your only option. I do appreciate that the two oven racks are highly adjustable and the inside of the oven is generously sized.
