"I don't know where to find a box of cereal in the store, but I know right where the PMS medicines are!" This was a hilarious phrase uttered by the husband of one of my friends. She and I like many, many women suffer from PMS or Premenstrual Syndrome. The effects of PMS vary from woman to woman, but for me these symptoms include, bloating, irritability and occasional cramping. Others may add headaches and backaches to their lists of symptoms.
The reality of PMS is that it can make an entire household miserable. Not only is the woman in question suffering, but that suffering often trickles down to husbands and children. The end result is often ugly.
I have fought with PMS in varying degrees for most of my adult life. My symptoms seemed to worsen after the birth of my first child. I'm not sure if it was the added stress of a another person to care for or hormones, but I definitely noticed a change in the way I felt just before, well you know.
Premsyn PMS was a product recommended to me by my dear mother many years ago. It can be found in any supermarket (just ask my friend's husband) and is reasonably priced at about $4.50 per 20 caplet bottle. Most women I know would gladly shell out the cash to feel normal again!
Premsyn contains no caffeine or aspirin. I have an older bottle in my posession and it claims that each caplet contains 500 mg of Acetaminophen, 25 mg of Pamabrom and 15 mg of Maleate. I have absolutely no idea what those last two ingredients are, but they must work!
The bottle recommends two caplets every 4-6 hours as needed, but don't take more than 8 within a 24 hour period. It also states that the medication can cause drowsiness, but I've not had a problem with that. Of course, you should never take any medications without first consulting your doctor, especially if you are pregnant or nursing.
Within an hour after taking the recommended dosage of two caplets, I begin to feel like myself again. No more wanting to scream at the children, no more wanting to choke the life out of my husband. That is an enormous relief to them as well!
