| keesmomi's Full Review: Preschool Front Loader/Backhoe |
I purchased the Tonka Front Loader/Backhoe for my son's birthday when he was four years old. Right away, it was a major hit! He wasn't quite sure at the time just what a Front Loader/Backhoe did, but he loved putting the little construction worker in his seat making him drive around. (I love that little man, by the way! He is soft and easy for little hands to manipulate, but not so small that he is easily lost.)
We began to point out construction sites to my son when we were out driving. We made sure that he saw every front loader/backhoe that we passed. Soon, he was pointing them out to us, and became very interested in working in construction with his new toy. He would haul blocks, Lincoln Logs, and Leggos to his construction sites around the house. When it got warm outside, he loved to play with it in the sandbox or patches of dirt in the yard. He liked to play with it in conjunction with his Tonka Mighty Dump Truck, hauling dirt and sand and making roads.
Whenever we go swimming at our local reservoir, the front loader always goes along. My son and his friends spend hours making castles and tunnels in the sand. I'm always surprised to look up and see how many children are playing with my son. This toy is a great attraction!
The front loader/backhoe is extremely well-constructed. Ours has been through many a rough play session, and is still as good as new. It is also safe for younger children to play with, as it is made of plastic, and doesn't have sharp edges. My ten-month-old son is beginning to play with it now. I would definitely recommend this toy.
