I had owned an old electric skillet that left food stuck & burned. Time for a new one. I looked around & found this awesome skillet from Presto that seemed to fit my family of 5 perfectly. I always have to double recipes in order to have enough food to go around &, when I learned of this skillet’s size, I went to have a look.
Pros:
-Its SIZE! This is large enough to cook quite a bit of food without anything spilling over the edges. Last night I was able to easily cook 6 slices of french bread (the loaf bread size) at a time & even had extra space around each slice.
-The base is DISHWASHER SAFE! Granted it is tight trying to get this into the dishwasher but it can be done. Talk about easy cleanup.
-The COVER is made of EverNu, not metal. It is a non-painted material that they claim will not dent or warp &, since it has no paint, won’t have paint chipping off. However, when I opened my box for the first time the cover was cracked terribly; I had no problem having the manufacturer mail me a new one but it shows that this material can crack.
-It has a great NONSTICK FINISH & COOKS EVENLY despite its large cooking area. I have been happy every time I have cooked in the Presto so far.
-If you purchase an optional roasting rack you can, obviously, ROAST in this skillet. I have not done this so do not know just how roasts would turn out.
-It comes with a small instruction booklet containing a TEMPERATURE & TIMETABLE CHART to help if you are unsure how to cook something.
-It comes with a limited 2-year WARRANTY. You must, however, send it postage prepaid to their Factory Service Department or take it to an Authorized Service Station.
-As with all electric skillets it uses LESS ENERGY while cooking than your stovetop.
Cons:
- Its SIZE! I know, I know! Actually, though, its size is a bit of a hassle. It makes storing the skillet a little more difficult than a “normal” sized skillet. And, if you want to cook small amounts, this is not the skillet for you. There have been times when I have cooked a smaller casserole-type dish in my Presto & had a hard time because the food spreads out so much into a thin layer. I can’t really explain why this was a minor hassle so just trust me in that it was.
That’s it! There isn’t much to be said negatively about this electric skillet. It’s great & if you cook large amounts of food at a time this would be an awesome skillet for you.
