Pros:cook two items at same time, saves oil, easy to clean
Cons:maximum heating temp of 375, has single oil pan, price
The Bottom Line: great deep fat fryer for large families
In March of 2010 we faced one of the worst disasters a family could face when our home burned down in the middle of the night and we lost our home and all of the contents. Luckily we all survived even though one of kids got burned pretty bad she is doing great now. Since we did not have any homeowers insurance our neighbors and community came together to help us. A complete stranger donated a mobile home and our menonite neighbors threw us a kitchen party.
I guess my favorite gift from the kitchen party was the Presto 05466 Dual ProFry Deep Fat Fryer. This is because we cook a lot of deep fried foods such as chicken and french fries. Having a dual deep fryer saves me from having to use twice as much cooking oil to cook two different types of food in two different pans at the same time which means cleaning up two different pans. The fryer heats up quickly using 1800 watts of power but has a maximum heating temperature of 375 degrees. It holds aproximately 12 cups of oil and cooks aproximately 3.5 pounds of food at one time. This allows me to cook enough french fries for our family of five at one time. However one of the neatest things about this fryer is that it can double as a steamer as well so it is two appliances in one.
The presto dual pro fryer is very easy to clean because it has an immersion heating element that just lifts out which allows you to wipe it down and then allows the oil pan to be removed so it can be cleaned easily in a sink. There is a nice cover that fits over the unti which prevents excessive splattering while cooking or for you to store the oil in the unit to be used again at a latter date without it getting contaminated. Another thing I like is that the baskets handles fold up which allows you to stow them away inside the unit when it is not in use.
