I believe the "Fry Daddy" has to be the greatest invention for the kitchen since the microwave. I have owned mine for 20 years, which speaks right up front for its durability and lifespan. Depending on the size you purchase which varies from "Fry Baby" to "Fry Granpappy" you simply fill it with your choice of oil and you're good to go. There is a line inside to show you how much oil it requires, which if memory serves me amounted to 4 cups.
Cleaning can be arranged around each oil change which also varies due to its use. I use mine quite frequently so I change the oil every couple weeks. Usually simple dish soap and water is all thats required unless you have batter (for instance) dripped on the exterior, then its best to wipe down while warm or use a small sos pad or similiar scrubby for removal. Just avoid submersion as instructed.
Over the years we have tried many different things in our "Fry Daddy". The best to date would be Popcorn Chicken ,which we make our own batter for or Onion Rings. Then theres a variety of frozen food that is endless including Pizza Rolls, Frys, Clams, and Cheese Sticks.
Most meals can be complete in 30 minutes and once the "Fry Daddy" cools , the provided snap on plastic lid is all thats required for a easy clean clean up. Great for the single lifestyles and families alike , but please use with caution around small children. It gets very hot and cools very slow.
I am sure the prices vary with the size fryer you purchase but I paid 20.00 for mine, as I said years ago. Most stores carry this product so finding one should be very simple. I got mine at K-mart and theres plenty of similar stores like this. If you would like to research this further you can visit their website at .. Presto Deep Fryers .....http://www.presto-net.com/productinfo/catalog/deepfryers.html.....By the way, this is a great gift idea for the late holiday shoppers ....Thanks for reading and Rating.....Kat
