I have a 3 1/2 year old daughter who has loved playing with Barbie dolls since she was two. Problem was, most Barbies contain several accessories which can pose choking hazards. My other obstacle was that a lot of the Barbies had "themes" and came dressed in elaborate outfits. All I have been looking for is a simple, basic Barbie doll with long hair that my daughter could enjoy without my being paranoid. This was a perfect fit!!
The doll itself is shaped like all the others. Her hair is dark brown and (thankfully) does not contain any ribbons or bows. There are shoes included, but those are simple enough to discard discreetly. The comb is also enclosed and provides hours of entertainment for all the little hairdressers out there. Her outfit is a simple one piece miniskirt dress. It is form fitting and therefore difficult for the younger children to get off. Depending on what you are looking for, this could be a bonus or drawback. In my situation, it was just what I was looking for! In addition, this Barbie is very reasonably priced. This is great when I consider that it would be rare for a child of my daughter's age to be gentle with it.
Overall, I am glad I finally found this particular Barbie. Sometimes finding the basics can be the most difficult task of all! I was so pleased with it in fact, that I have purchased the other three "pretty in plaid" Barbies!
