Pros: Ulcer pain eradicated for long time periods
Cons: A week or more to start working, painful vision effects
The Bottom Line: Absolutely works for ulcer pain. It takes a week or so but the pain will be gone for months. Do the full 14 day treatment and the ulcers go running!

A few years back, I was having constant, extremely painful nausea. It seemed like every second of the day I could, to be blunt, puke everywhere. After talking to my doctor about it, we determined that I had stomach ulcers. I started taking medication after medication, with every pill I took seeming to never completely relieve that intense pain from my ulcers. A lot of other medications had some obnoxious side effects, mostly making you feel pretty doped up, unable to concentrate. I started taking Prilosec and it actually stopped the pain. I wasn't feeling bogged down or drugged, just pain free! I can't stress how well Prilosec worked to stop my ulcer woes, I am truely grateful.
It takes about 1 week to start working, but it cures a nasty flare-up for a few months, something no other medicine I've taken has been able to do.
I must mention one side-effect, but several doctors I have spoken with have told me this is very uncommon. When I take Prilosec, my eyes have great difficulty dilating, so when I go outside it is very painful and often I cannot even open my eyes. I have absolutely no vision problems, I am a professional photographer with excellent eyesight. I think this side effect is something that probably only I have to deal with. But when I am having a bout with ulcers, I am willing to accept this effect.
Overall, it's a great medication, that I have taken over and over again with repeated success. For ulcers, Prilosec is a wonderful remedy.
