| danda's Full Review: Prince QuikTrac Ti |
I must say that I am in love with these shoes. I have tried lots of other brands -- Reebok, Nike, New Balance, Wilson, Adidas, etc. These are hands down the most comfortable pair of tennis shoes I've owned. Plus, they look great and after a couple months aren't showing the slightest sign of wear.
Weight:
Prince boasts about its use of titanium to make these shoes both rigid and light. I think I believe the claims. The shoes are light and I can wear them for hours without tiring.
Traction:
Let's just say I've never slipped while wearing these shoes. Of course, I only play on hard courts, so I have no idea how they would perform on clay or grass surfaces. There is a cool little thingy on the bottom called the "midfoot stabilizer" which is supposedly the titanium. I guess it does the job.
Comfort:
I have narrow feet and these shoes fit them like a glove. They have good arch support and terrific ankle support. A unique cord wraps around the ankle so that when the laces are tied, it tightens the heel area as well as the toe area. There is plenty of padding. I used to like the Reebok shoes a lot more than Nike because Reebok used more padding. This shoe fits right in between. It provides great comfort, padding, support, and breathability. A final nice touch is the easy pull-on loop at the heel.
Appearance:
I got the black version. I think they look better. Very sporty, on court and off. This is not your traditional Prince tennis shoe. Another benefit of the black is that it hides dirt and scuffs really well. These shoes still look almost brand new, and I've been playing singles at least twice a week with them.
Durability:
Well, these puppies have a "Bridgestone extreme performance rubber outsole" and a "Prince EVA/PU performance midsole", whatever that is. Further, they come with a 6 month outsole warranty. From the looks of it, I won't have any reason to use it, and 6 months is definitely the near the outside boundary of my previous shoes' lifespans.
Reason for purchase:
These shoes were the best looking, most comfortable, and most attractively priced of any that I looked at -- at my local tennis shop. Further, they were the highest recommended by the pro / salesperson. Finally, I have to admit that the 'titanium' advertising appeals to my sense of cool, even if it does nothing.
Negatives:
Hmm... well, I did notice that the shoelaces came un-tied a few times during play, but I'm probably just an inept tie-er. Ha. Actually, the laces have the look and feel of quality. They are a thick circular nylon cord, white with a black stripe. I doubt they will ever break.
