I had been looking forward to this movie for a long time, and was not disappointed. Dream Works did a wonderful job fitting great entertainment, excellent animation, and such a timeless story together!
What most impressed me by the animation itself was the truth in the pictures. The people looked real, not Barbie-esque like in most Disney films. They looked like the Jewish (please excuse my total lack of PCness), and others in that time.
Many have complained about “how untrue to the actual story” it was. Yet I, being the Christian that I am, saw nothing of the sort. As in most any movie, true... they took some artistic and theatrical freedom with the story. But all in all I happen to believe that the meaning and underlying moral and power of the story were shown true.
They focused more on how Moses had to deal with the relationships he held within the hierarchy of Egypt. How Moses felt about going up against his own brother. How he struggled to follow God’s will daily (which is always the emphasis I’ve gotten directly from the Bible myself.)
Personally I found myself wanting to rush back to the theater to see it over and over again (which is probably why I bought the DVD before it was even released.) The music, the colors, the excitement... all blend together to create an animation epic film for all ages and times!
