Be careful

Pros:Good aerobic exercise design
Cons:High rate of manufacturing defects and questionable or difficult warrantee backup
The Bottom Line: Buy from a very reputable dealer who will exchange a defective item without difficulty. A large dealer has more influence on the manufacturer for repairs.
This is a good exercise machine if you get one without defects and if you know how to put it together. Things to consider are:
You should be in fairly good shape to use an elliptical exerciser. For older or less healthy people you might want to start on a machine you can sit on and get good leg and arm exercise.
The rate of defects from Proform is very high based on what I have read. You will have to deal with it one way or another.
I had trouble making contact with Proform so I returned and exchanged my defective exerciser where I bought it.
Make sure you buy from a store that has excellent return and exchange policies. I chose Sams and they did the exchange very quickly. The second exerciser I took home and assembled worked properly.
The exerciser is not easy to move once it is assembled. Mine is the Space Saver model so it was easier to role around and return. I had a motorcycle trailer with a ramp so loading was easy. If you have a truck it will take two healthy people to load it. With a store like Sams there will be someone there to help you unload the equipment and make an exchange.
I hear complaints on the battery operation. This is essential if you want the heart rate monitor to function properly. Any electrical connection to house circuitry will cause excessive electrical interference.
Assembly is more difficult but not unreasonable. An assembled machine of this type would be much more expensive.
In general I like the Proform elliptical exercise machine. I have the 890 model which is similar to the 900 model except the 890 does not have an adjustable pivot arm.
