Pros: The most durable water bottle I've ever used.
Cons: Painted logo comes off quickly (if you care about logos)
The Bottom Line: Three out of four of these bottles will get lost before you can break them.

| puckmugger's Full Review: Pro Guard Hockey Water Bottle |
Recently I made my case for hockey tape not all being equal. Today I will shed similar light on hockey bottles. Until Nalgene starts making a hockey bottle, I will keep the Pro Guard bottle on my list as the best.
▪ You can shoot this bottle
Dargens review of the Nalgene 16oz. Bottle 703050 indicates that you cannot break a Nalgene bottle without the use of a firearm. I use my bottle in a place where people are always shooting at me (fortunately with pucks not bullets). When they miss me and my net, they hit the bottle sometimes.
Granted, a six-ounce hockey puck going eighty miles per hour wont do the damage that a half-ounce bullet going five hundred miles an hour will. Still, Ive gone through a lot of bottles at the mercy of hockey pucks. A Nalgene bottle would be great if it had a spout, but pouring water all over my face isnt quite as important as getting some in my mouth. And no, Im not uncoordinated, I have a mask over my face.
▪ OK, so bottles break, what of it?
Even the Pro Guard bottles arent all created the same. I had one of the white Iglasco bottles distrubuted by Pro Guard break before I got on the ice and dropped it. If they ever fall off the net, they are toast. The translucent model pictured here and manufactured by Pro Guard is the only bottle that Ive had that is highly durable. They will not only take repeated falls without breaking, they will take direct shots. In fact, I have never had the bottle itself break. However the lid on one of mine did crack when a hard shot struck it.
▪ Yeah yeah, but does it leak?
How many bottles have I owned that leaked? Too many to count. Some leak around the lid because they dont screw on tight. Others leak from the nozzle squirting in unexpected directions. Nothing is more refreshing than an eyeful of water. Iglasco's white bottles are notorious for leaking.
The translucent Pro Guard bottle doesnt leak. Ive had four of these and all of them have been good. (That one lid broke and I lost two, I still have one).
▪ Final Thoughts
The only thing that doesnt last is the paint on the outside of the bottle. Honestly, I dont find that to be a problem. The only graphic on the bottle is Pro Guard not exactly a status symbol.
This is the best hockey bottle that Ive used thus far. Is it better than a Nalgene? Well you can shoot it without it breaking.
