After reaping success from use of the Proactiv Renewing Cleanser, Revitalizing Toner, Repairing Lotion I became interested in trying other products from the Proactiv Solutions line. Although I was pleased with the Renewing Cleanser, I wanted to try the Proactiv Deep Cleansing Wash.
Whereas the Renewing Cleanser has a primary active ingredient of 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide, the Proactiv Deep Cleansing Wash offers 2% Salicylic Acid as the primary active ingredient. Like much of the other items in the Proactiv Solutions line this cleanser is sold in a white, plastic container, with evergreen lettering.
Proactiv Deep Cleansing Wash can be purchased separately or within a kit (I recommend QVC). My initial purchase of the Deep Cleansing Wash was $21.00 for the 8 fl. oz. Pump Dispensed bottle, and included a travel size 1 fl. oz.
In my view, Proactiv Deep Cleansing Wash is easy to use and holds true to the product claims of assisting to "Clear acne blemishes on the face and body." I keep the 8 fl. oz. bottle in the shower and generally use it in the morning. I follow this use with the Revitalizing Toner, Repairing Lotion, and Oil-Free Moisture.
A smidgen of this product cleanses my entire face. It is very easy to dispense. The Deep Cleansing Wash is pastel mint-green and has a mild scent (neither offensive nor preferred). It is my opinion that this cleanser offers slight more exfoliation than the Renewing Cleanser, yet refrains from being abrasive. I truly like how clean my skin feels after using the Deep Cleansing Wash, and appreciate the smoothness. I have also used this cleanser on my upper back. While the traditional 3-step Proactiv system was fine, I am thankful that I added this product to my facial care regimen. I honestly feel that my pores are more clear now. At the very least I know that dead skin is getting sloughed away.
Additionally my oldest daughter -13 - has used this cleaner on her face and back, with great success. She plays fastpitch softball and is on a competition dance troupe. Combine the athletic endeavors with those active teen hormones, and the need for a good facial cleanser is evident. While she normally prefers to use some sort of facial cloth, the pump dispenser on the 8 fl. oz. bottle is so convenient, that she will use this cleanser while showering. I noticed a dramatic improvement with regard to her nose region, and the clearing of pores.
The package warns to avoid the eyes, this is for external use only, and that use of two acne medications (this along with a product containing Benzoyl Peroxide) might be too drying for some. Perhaps the latter is true for certain people, however for me the alternation of the two cleansers has been a welcomed regimen. For some, this cleanser alone might be sufficient to combat the facial blemishes. Myself I utilize many Proactiv Solutions system components and continue to be grateful for the line.
As indicated, Deep Cleansing Wash is intended for those that struggle with facial blemishes. I have used this cleanser for slightly more than two-months and plan to continue using it. If you have a sensitivity issue with Salicylic Acid this product should be avoided. The one fact that could be a downfault is that this product has to be mail-ordered, or purchased online. However I have placed several orders with QVC and they always arrive promptly.
