| Dbbum's Full Review: Proactive Solution Renewing Cleanser |
I have been dealing with moderate acne over my entire face for several years, and thus far nothing has ever seemed to work. Two years ago I saw the late night infomercial for Proactive Solution, and how great their system worked. Afterwards I decided to order the basic 3 step package with a bonus tube of refining mask cream. This package cost approximately $45.00, and I even managed to pay by check over the phone! It's possible to order each individual bottle depends on your needs, but they tend to cost more that way.
This particular review covers Proactive Solution Step 1: Renewing Cleanser. There are a total of 4 reviews (listed below) covering the entire basic package of Proactive Solutions.
Proactive Solution Step 1: Renewing Cleanser
Proactive Solution Step 2: Revitalizing Toner
Proactive Solution Step 3: Repairing Lotion
Proactive Solution Step 4: Refining Mask
The first step in the Proactive Solution acne treatment package is the Renewing Cleanser. This particular product comes in a large white bottle 4.0oz, similar to the revitalizing toner. It may not seem like much, but a little goes a long way. Depending on your needs, this product may only last the projected 2 months, or much much longer. In my case the bottle lasted about 2.5 months with moderate amounts per application. If my acne wasn't as bad, the product may have lasted the full 3 months or longer. The main purpose of the Renewing Cleanser is to help remove dead skin cells, excess oil, and other foreign matter that gets trapped on your face and inside pores. The product resembles cottage cheese, simply because it's white in color and contains small gritty beads that aid in the cleansing process.
Application and cleanup is typical of most cleansing products. You simply squeeze a dime/quarter size amount onto your fingers and rub the product around your entire face for approximately 30 seconds. Afterwards you wash off your face using water and your bare hands, or a wash rag if you desire a rougher cleanup. Since the Renewing Cleanser is a gritty cleanser, you'll notice alot of dead skin on your hands and face. This is why some people may prefer a wash rag, it will help scrub off any remaining skin that didn't quite flake off completely. This may sound like a rough experience, but it's fairly painless and easy to do.
If you continue the complete 4 step process, the next application would be the revitalizing toner. In my experiences the Renewing Cleanser does a better job than the revitalizing toner at removing excess oil. I recommend skipping the revitalizing toner application if you use the Renewing Cleanser. Your skin may overdry very easily.
This is one of the most important steps in the Proactive Solution process. You simply must have a cleanser application before anything else is applied. Whether you plan to purchase the Renewing Cleanser alone for $16.00, or bundled in the 4 step package, this product is a must have.
Overall I found the Renewing Cleanser to be very useful and effective in acne treatment. The results are noticeable: dead skin on your hands and in the sink, excess oil removed, soft, smooth skin. Throughout my two month usage I didn't notice any serious dryness or harmful effects from the product. Some harsh cleansers will scrub your face down to a rosy red hue, or leave your face oily. This is not the case with the Renewing Cleanser. The best part is no offensive odor, although some people have detected a slight medical odor associated with the active ingredient, benzyl peroxide. The Renewing Cleanser works best when used in the morning after a full nights rest, and again at night before going to bed. These are the two most effective times, and when used together, will help keep your face free of dead skin and excess oil.
