Pros: The cleanser felt good as I felt it scrubbing away toxins from my pores
Cons: Not enough cleanser to last 2 months before the next shipment
The Bottom Line: If you suffer from acne and nothing else seems to work, try Proctiv Solution. What do you have to lose? I DO NOT regret giving it a try.

| teachermom78's Full Review: Proactive Solution Renewing Cleanser |
As a 46-year-old woman who has suffered with acne since I've been 10, I was ready to give something else a try. Yes, I do the dermatologist routine and have used every topical treatment I believe has ever been made! But if you know insurance companies and their standards as to just what they will cover financially, it became a burden. What worked for my skin wasn't covered by my insurance!!
I continue giggle as I watch infomercials as they just seem too-good-to-be-true. Since this one touched me emotionally, I decided "why not TRY it; what do I have to lose?". Well, I did try it and this update is what I have determined through two cycles of using the product.
The replacement kits arrived like clockwork...2 months after the previous order had been delivered. It was packaged just as the initial product package minus the mask and the informational booklets. I decided to give round 2 a try again. For some reason the product looked smaller, but of course it wasn't. I just wondered how long it would be before I ran out of cleanser again. I ran out of it the first time after one month and still had one month to go before my new delivery. Well, guess what? I ran out once again!!
My favorite part of any acne routine is the cleansing portion so I opened up the 4 fl. oz bottle and used just a small amount to my damped face and and massaged it for one to two minutes into my face that evening. After patting my face dry, I read the literature contained in the original shipment again from cover to cover. I was sure my skin was toughened to just about anything considering my history; however, after the first full day of using the cleanser morning and night(initially) my face did feel quite sensitive (raw.) I reduced the routine to just evenings until my face became accustomed to the product. The "raw" feeling did disappear after approximately one week. With my "second round" I had no negative effects from the cleanser at all.As a matter of effect, I didn't feel I was getting the initial positive effects that I had gotten from round one.White heads continued to flare up at a rate that was unsatisfactory to me.
The cleanser is an oil-free and medicated with finely milled Benzoyl Peroxide. It has a pleasant smell and feels quite soothing as it is rubbed into the skin during cleansing. It also mildly exfoliates dead skin cells and impurities. I faithfully used the product daily; however, I ran out of the cleanser way before any of the other items in the ProActiv Solution package.
Product-wise, I initially was satisfied with the cleanser. The tiny grains felt like they were doing the job my skin needed :scrubbing away those blackheads!! My skin felt very refreshed. (I only used it in the morning because there isn't enough to last 2 months in the size they make). When I ran out of the cleanser I felt my skin didn't feel quite the same: it didn't feel as clean or smoothe. I couldn't wait for my new shipment to come. The cleanser reduced the number of blackheads that no other product had ever done for my skin condition. Unfortunately, the improvement after the first round was the best improvement I have seen. My skin now does not seem to respond to the cleanser as effectively as it did initially and break outs are commonplace again. (Yes, I'm using the entire package with the same results).
I was a satisfied customer initially; however,I have recently cancelled my "membership" and hope I do not experience the "cancellation nightmare" I have read about from other e-pinion member users.
If the product works for the consumer I do not feel the price is too high. I apparently must continue to see my dermatologist to keep my acne under control at a much higher price than the ProActiv products.
My theory is ...if it works........no price is too high. Also, not every product works for every skin condition. That is why there are so many different types of medications on the market. People who are disappointed in Proactiv may be the very people that need to pursue an alternate treatment.I do not feel you can blame the product. All acne sufferers want the PERFECT product that will just make the acne go away. It doesn't exist. Proactiv just helps treat my acne to the point where it is easier to live with. If it does that, then the product has done its job!! I am one of those that must continue alternate treatment for my acne. :(
I will now spend the $5.95 in shipping/handling charges and the $39.95 product costs and apply them to my
dermatological products I chose to get on the "roller coaster ride" but it is now time for me to "get off"!!
I truly hope that the cleanser works for others. It doesn't hurt to give it a dry. As I said, "what do you have to lose"?
