| nicelife6's Full Review: Proactive Solution Repairing Lotion |
I used this product for 8 years. Yes, 8 years!!! We had just moved to the Northwest from the desert and the humidity was making my acne worse than ever. I was meeting new people and felt so embarassed by my skin. I saw the infomercial and decided to give it a try--the price was the very same as it is today! I was so excited to get it in the mail, I think I had it expressed. Anyway, I started using it and within DAYS my skin was calming down. At first I used the repairing lotion morning and night, but my skin starting drying out, so I just used it at night. My skin was perfect. I became a believer. It took about 2 weeks to perfect skin. No kidding. For the first time in many years I could leave the house with no makeup. It truly changed my life. I was happier, more confident and just felt more free. I was grateful everytime I put moisturizer on and nothing else and walked out the door. So carefree! 8 years people! It was great.
During the course of the 8 years I did notice that if I skipped once (which I rarely did), I would break out a little bit. This only encouraged me to use it very regularly. It did seem strange to me, though, that even if I was late washing my face in the morning (like if I went to work out and didn't get around to showering or washing my face till later in the day)that just missing ONE washing would cause me to break out. I wondered if I would be 'stuck' with Proactive for the rest of my life if my skin couldn't behave without it.
Anyway, now that I'm 38 I've decided that it's time to get on something that will help my skin to look younger. You know, get on a different kind of regimine that will delay the signs of aging a bit. Now, I will say, the Proactive didn't dry my skin out at all, my skin felt great, even looked great, but my thinking is 'after all these years I'll probably be ok to try something else--something that will help the other issues of my skin, ie: signs of aging.'
I had no idea what my skin would do coming off of Proactive 'cold turkey.' I have broken out worse than ever. I have pimples on my face where I never had a problem before. They aren't the type of pimples that come to the surface and pop, they are the hard bumps under the skin that I am still waiting for to surface and go away. I am so shocked at my skin's reaction. It's going through withdrawals.
I've been to an aesthetician and she said she's seen this before with Proactive users. She said the deep toxins are pushing their way out? That the Proactive counteracts the formation of pimples, but kind of holds the toxins deep in the pores. I don't know if I buy that one, but I don't know. My next step is to go to a reputable dermatologist. I've never gone on antibiotics for acne, but I know I don't want to go on Proactive again and have to use it for the rest of my life. I feel like my choice was taken away a little because my skin can't live without Proactive.
