| brunettka's Full Review: Proactive Solution Repairing Lotion |
I have been battling with acne and blemished for about 8 years now, and have tried numerous products throughout my life, every time hoping it would be the answer to my bad skin. After giving a try to everything I (and my friends and relatives) could possibly think of, I decided to try Proactiv.
The reason why I didn't try it earlier: the first Proactiv infomercial I saw was with Jessica Simpson talking about it, how she used to have such bad pimples and Proactiv helped improve her skin and now she has beautiful skin. After hearing that I thought to myself: "are you kidding me?!?! That girl was born with beautiful skin, there is no way she even needed to use the product, they probably just paid her to participate." So, bottom line: I didn't believe the infomercial (that one, or the ones I saw later on).
But, after literally trying everything that was supposed to help the skin heal the blemishes, I had no choice but to try Proactiv.
I called the hotline (that is the only way you can order it, other than online), talked to the customer service representative, paid, and waited for about 2 weeks hoping this would be the last product I had to buy for my acne.
When I received the Proactive kit, here is what was included in the kit:
1.Renewing Cleanser - exfoliates dead skin cells
2.Revitalizing Toner - unplugs pores and removes excess oil
3.Repairing Lotion - heals blackheads, prevents future blemishes
Instructions say that you are supposed to use them in that order, twice a day. Which is exactly what I did. The first couple of days I used the three products my skin was alright, I didn't really see a difference, so I thought I need to keep using it to see if it really works. However, the more I used it, the drier my skin got! The only product (of the three) my skin actually 'accepted' was the Lotion, it was the only one that helped my face feel refreshed. The first 2 steps became a pain for me because my skin felt way too dry (even though I got the combination set because I have combination skin type), I actually had to discontinue using the first 2 products of the kit all together. But not the Lotion. I switched to a different exfoliator, but still used the Proactiv Lotion, and it STILL worked! The Lotion alone made my face look better by healing my blemished.
So, for those whose skin gets really dry after using Proactiv, I would recommend trying to use a different cleanser and toner, but applying the Proactiv Lotion at the end, and you will see a difference! I did.

Tip: After using Proactiv (any of the three components of the kit), use a white towel only, because I wiped my face with a purple towel, and now the towel is pink, because it looks like Proactiv has a 'bleaching' ingredient and it will damage your towel, unless it's white.
