| Dbbum's Full Review: Proactive Solution Revitalizing Toner |
I have been dealing with moderate acne over my entire face for several years, and thus far nothing has ever seemed to work. Two years ago I saw the late night infomercial for Proactive Solution, and how great their system worked. Afterwards I decided to order the basic 3 step package with a bonus tube of refining mask cream. This package cost approximately $45.00, and I even managed to pay by check over the phone! It's possible to order each individual bottle depends on your needs, but they tend to cost more that way.
This particular review covers Proactive Solution Step 2: Revitalizing Toner. There are a total of 4 reviews (listed below) covering the entire basic package of Proactive Solutions.
Proactive Solution Step 1: Renewing Cleanser
Proactive Solution Step 2: Revitalizing Toner
Proactive Solution Step 3: Repairing Lotion
Proactive Solution Step 4: Refining Mask
The second step in the Proactive Solution acne treatment package is the Revitalizing Toner. This particular product comes in a large green bottle 4.0oz, equal in size to the renewing cleaner. Although the amount is small, the product is not used as often or in large doses. Because of this the bottle of Revitalizing Toner may last longer than the renewing cleanser, as well as the other products in the Proactive Solution process. The main purpose of the Revitalizing Toner is to help remove oil and dead skin from your face, leaving a smooth clean feeling. The product does not contain alcohol, but looks and smells very similar. It's recommended to apply with a cotton ball, however in my personal experiences I didn't have access to cotton balls. Therefore I had to simply use my fingers, and since the product is the same consistency as water, this was not as easy task. In all my uses with this product my skin never became overdry, in fact it helped make it smooth and soft.
The Revitalizing Toner is not exactly the most effective product compared to the rest of the Proactive package. It's an extra step, which can be skipped without noticing any dramatic differences. This product is used after the renewing cleanser, which basically does the same thing only on a more effective level. If you purchase the full 4 step package this bottle will be included. If plan to purchase selected items from the catalog I would suggest skipping over this bottle. At $16.00 a bottle, this stuff can be expensive considering it's not a necessary step in the overall process.
Since the Revitalizing Toner is made of a watery solution, there is no need to wash it off. You simply apply it with a cotton ball, and allow time for any remaining wet spots to dry off. There is a slight offensive odor emitted when used, similar to alcohol, but I wasn't personally offended by it. There is a need for caution as well, especially if you have open sores or cuts. The product will sting your skin just like alcohol, which isn't a very pleasant feeling. If you fall into the category of intense acne blemishes, you should definitely avoid the use of this product. It's best used for mild acne treatment.
Overall I found the Revitalizing Toner to be somewhat useful and effective in acne treatment. It's difficult to apply correctly without the proper materials, but if you have access to cotton balls then this process will take mere seconds. Throughout my two month usage I didn't notice any dramatic usefulness applying the product. Some days I would skip using this product, and not notice and difference. I always thought it was a complete waste of time and money, and overall my assumptions seemingly came true. While the product does help clean oil and dirt from your skin, there is little reason to use both the renewing cleanser and Revitalizing Toner back to back. They serve a similar purpose, and may overdry some people's face. The Revitalizing Toner works best when used after a morning face wash with water, or along side other Proactive items, excluding the renewing cleanser.
