AliventiAsylum's Full Review: Procter & Gamble Always Infinity Overnight with Wi...
I have polycystic ovarian syndrome. One of the symptoms I am plagued with happens to be very heavy menstrual cycles. This makes it a nightmare for a few days when I finally get my period.
I had a coupon for a new product from Always, the Infinity Overnight Pads with Wings. I haven’t had much luck when using Always pads during the heaviest days of my cycle. In general they are thinner than the Stayfree and don’t work in keeping my clothes safe from that flow. Still, I figured I would give them a shot.
My first impression when I opened the package was that this was way too small and thin to wear during the first two days of my period. There was no way I would trust them then, so I put it aside and didn’t give them a try until the third day. Am I glad I did or I would have been having issues I didn’t need.
The new Infinity pads from Always have a top sheet on the pad with holes in them, ostensibly to allow the flow through to the pad below while keeping it away from me. The problem is that while initially this works fine, once the pad has absorbed right around the area where the holes are, there’s no way for the flow to make it to where the pad is still clean.
The pad itself is pretty thin and feels like soft foam rather than a sponge or a wad of material. I’ve found that with the thinness it tends to fold up in half lengthwise as I am wearing it and end up between my legs. It does stay in place fine, but the thin quality of the foam doesn’t keep it flat. Getting it positioned just right when wearing it for the first time wasn’t all that easy and I wasted a pad trying to get it placed just right. The length is pretty good as far as pads go, and it does protect better than other pads in that regard. I had no issues with flow running off either end of the pad, it’s just the sides and the way it bunches up that leaves me concerned.
For that reason alone, I was right not to trust this to my heaviest flow days, and I can’t see wearing this overnight any time I might be worried about leaks. Always says the new material these are made from will absorb ten times their weight, but I can’t say whether or not it’s the case. The bit I tried it during the third and fourth days of my period didn’t lead me to believe I can trust it during the heavier days.
The thin quality of the pads do make this very comfortable to wear. Even when it got folded up and wedged between my legs, it wasn’t an uncomfortable feeling. I can believe the claims that you can forget you’re wearing a pad while wearing these. I know more than once I was running to the bathroom to double-check, but the Always Infinity Overnight Pads with Wings was doing what it should do.
For women who have flows that aren’t like you’re hemorrhaging, they would probably be fine with these. Most women who are like that, though, prefer tampons. I don’t use those because it’s ridiculous to go through one every couple of hours and have to wear a pad beside. For women like me who have very heavy flow days, I can’t say that these left me impressed enough with their performance on a lighter day that I would give them a shot on the heavier days. I certainly won’t be paying a premium price for them, either.
