| tweetyva's Full Review: Proctor Silex Extra Tall Power Can Opener 75217 |
After receiving the Extra Tall Slim Design Electric can opener as a gift, give me pack my hand one. It had one pro that I could find and the fact that a taller can would fit under it. BUT, then you better hope the can is not very heavy cause it will tip. The base is not wide enough to support any heavy cans at all. It comes crashing over with all the contents spilling out. You must always hold you hand on the top of the opener to ensure it doesn't tip. The handle of the can opener seems to fall off every time I use it. It is difficult to get it to line back up inside to snap in place. When you stick the can up to the metal knife it wiggles around, up and down and you have to play with it to begin opening the can. When you do finally get it to open at the end of the opening cycle the the liquid in the can spit out at you.
I have owned other models and never had this much hassle and aggravation from an appliance. It is now going in the yard sale bin or better yet the garbage. The price paid I am sure is not worth the frustration for the convenience of use.
If this is a person first experience with an electric can opener STOP and skip over this model.
I have faith in my trusty 4 year old hand can opener that has been a true friend and never failed.
