Pros:vitamins, variety of tasty flavors, ergo bottle
Cons:a little sweet, expensive, has calories, small amount of vitamins
The Bottom Line: Provides a change from regular water.
A few years ago, flavored water hit the market and became all the craze. Suddenly it was just better to drink flavored water than regular Gatorade or Powerade while working out. I have to admit that I was one of those people to try out flavored water. Because I worked in a training facility at the time, I was fortunate not to have to pay for the bottles I originally tried. By the makers of Gatorade, Propel Fitness Water was introduced a few years back and I was definitely hooked after trying my first bottle.

Propel is a vitamin enhanced water beverage that is made with purified water. Each flavor comes in two sizes: 16.9 oz. and 23.7 fl. oz. Each blue bottle has its own safety seal that must be removed before you can drink from the bottle top. The actual top of the bottle can be totally twisted off or you can drink from the small spout at the top that also twists to the side to allow the liquid to come out.
Its very easy to drink from this small waterspout that I find convenient when on the treadmill or running outside. It definitely helps to prevent the liquid from streaming down my chin accidentally. The grooved bottle also helps to allow the bottle to stay in your hand and not slipping out. When originally introduced, this product came in only four flavors. Gatorade has since expanded that line of flavors.

Propel is full of antioxidant vitamins c & e that help neutralize free radicals The Vitamin B in this product is supposed to help boost your metabolism. I have tried many more flavored water products over the years since first trying this product and Ive done some comparisons. Propel does contain more carbohydrates per serving than other flavored waters. This can be good for some, but bad for others that are on a low carb diet.

When working out, I try very hard to get at least 20 oz. of water products and some kind of nutritional bar to keep up my energy and it also helps me to feel less drained. I usually run for around 40 minutes and then do a little strength training for around 20 minutes. I dont usually work out for more than an hour a day so feel that I do get enough nourishment to prevent dehydration. I try to drink 8 oz. of this water before I begin working out to hydrate myself. The carbs seem to give me an extra boost. Of course, not as much as some other drinks, but definitely better than some popular sports drinks. (FYI: My results may vary from others. I have a friend who has tried this and seen no change in her energy level.)
I have tried most of the flavors available and can say that I havent found one that I dont like. The lemon flavor is light and refreshing tasting, but its the one that leaves the most flavor in my mouth. And sometimes thats not all that pleasant, but I do enjoy the flavor as it goes down. The lemon flavor seems to have more of a stronger taste than the other flavors. The berry flavor tastes exactly like berries, no surprise there. This flavor also has a stronger flavor than some of the others. The orange flavor and kiwi strawberry flavors also have the exact taste as named. My favorite flavor would definitely have to be the kiwi strawberry. Most of the flavors do have a sweet taste, so if thats not your thing, then I would not purchase this water.
More recently, I tend to choose Propel over drinking sports drinks. Drinking regular Gatorade and Powerade just dont seem to quench my thirst as much as this Propel does. Dont get me wrong, I love drinking regular water when its cold, but Propel just gives me an extra option that I can definitely deal with. If you open the bottle and dont use it all, its recommended that you refrigerate the bottle until youre ready to drink the rest.
You can purchase Propel Fitness Water at most drug stores, popular discount stores and even grocery stores. Buying this water on a daily basis can become quite expensive because you can spend anywhere from $.99 to $1.49 for a single bottle of this stuff. I try hard to catch this product when it goes on sale and stock up as much as I have room for. I was excited to catch a ten pack (16.9 oz bottles) for $4.99 on clearance at Target. At just $.49 a bottle, I definitely could not resist. I will not purchase this water at regular price because its just not worth it.
I definitely have to recommend this Propel Fitness Water simply because it is a good alternative to drinking regular water. My mother doesnt like to drink water because she says it simply has no flavor. These drinks have helped her get her vitamins as well as staying hydrated with water while on the treadmill. Propel is not perfect by any means, it does contain sugar, only a small amount of vitamins (you should not stop taking a multivitamin), and it does contain a small amount of calories also, but it gives my mother and I the flavoring we need at times.
