As a Grandfather, I wish I had the information in this book when my children were at home. I listened to the audiotape read by the author and was amazed at some of the incidents described by De Becker. He outlines several events that were similar to experiences my wife and I had in raising two daughters. He is careful to remind you that his intention is not to scare parents but to apprise them of methods and techniques perverts and abusers use to seduce and/or kidnap children.
It is a primer on raising children as safely as possible without the necessity of worrying about others feelings when you or your child's well-being is at stake. His advice is that intuition rules over etiquette and grace when your heart tells you something is wrong. There are guidelines about recognizing signs and personalities that present danger.
This is one of those "self help" books that is practical and easy to listen or read through because it contains real, everyday issues. As the author states, it is not politically correct, but it is certainly required reading for anyone who is a caregiver or trusts their children to one whether it be a babysitter, day care center, neighbors or a school.
