I have read a few Nora Roberts books recently and, to be quite honest, they sucked. This novel completely changed my opinion of her!
Three-year-old Emma's life is turned around when her real father, superstar Brian McAvoy, rescues her from Jane, her abusive single mother. She goes to live with him in his mansion, with his pregnant new wife, and for the first time in her short life she is happy, what with her father who loves her to death, her new mother who doesn't hit or drink, and her new baby brother, Darren. There are big parties nearly every other night, and the house is filled with hundreds of people. But then something terrible happens, and all of their lives are shattered. To make it worse, every move they make is put on headlines across the country.
