| plaything's Full Review: Pulse PRO Watch |
I came to acquire the Pulse Pro watch, after one of my work out partners had purchased one and came to the club that day wearing it. His new watch was not only a standard watch, stop watch, alarm, the works; it also had a built in heart rate monitor. After watching him use the watch and seeing how easily it operated, I had to have one for myself!
Always being a health conscious person, I try to use any and all means of self monitoring I can; to keep a good check on my own health, as well as my progress of how effective my work outs really are. I had seen similar sport watches before, but none really impressed me enough to want to buy them; until this one.
What is the function of a heart rate monitor? And why would one want or need it?
The heart rate monitor gives you a reading of your pulse rate. You know the type of reading you can get at your local grocery store, while using the blood pressure arm slings by the pharmacy section. (I hate those!) Remember taking physical education classes and after working out, they had you put 2 fingers on your neck and make you count the beats? The pulse rate is a reading of your heart beats and the results indicate whether you are in good physical & cardiovascular health or in need of strengthening your overall physical fitness.
You can use it as your own personal trainer, guiding you each step of the way. With its readings, you will know how effective your exercise program is; and you will be able to monitor your progress and feel good instantly about seeing the results! You will be able to monitor if you are exercising in a range that will help you maximize the loss of fat; if you are dieting. A heart monitor helps to maintain long term health & wellness, and makes it easier to achieve your goals quicker & safer. Getting the most out of any exercising program is knowing your target heart rate zone and using the information to alter your program as needed. The following is the standard heart rate zone formula used:
Take 220 and subtract your Age: This equals your maximum heart rate
Multiply .65 x MHR: This equals the low end of your target zone
Multiply .85 x MHR: This equals the high end of your target zone
So you can see that 65%-85% of your maximum heat rate is your target zone
Pulse Pro watch: Ease of use, reliability, advanced technology
Unlike the machines at the stores, (that can give inaccurate readings) this watch is proven to be just as accurate as a reading obtained by your physician. The Pulse Pro watch is the first & only watch to have a specialized technology that provides an equally accurate reading, each & every time, during rest or strenuous exercise.
The Pulse Pro watch is wonderfully simple & easy to use. To acquire a reading you just have to place two fingers on the face of the watch to complete an ECG circuit. After it registers your first 5 heartbeats you have your reading in under 5 seconds. There is never a need to stop your workout if you choose, in order to take a reading!
The features of the Pulse Pro watch include:
Medically accurate Heart rate monitor
Fully functioning stop watch
Shows the current time & date
An adjustable calendar
Alarm & hourly chime if so desired
Alternate Time zone adjustment
Luminescent back lighting w/ 5 second display
Water resistant
Battery life approx. 1 year
Pulse Pro watch: The look, the users, that darn old battery
The Pulse Pro watch has quite a trendy look, made with a urethane band and stainless steel. This sports watch, with its many features, is the best product on the market today. I loved it from the moment I brought it home! I didn't even have to program it, it is automatically ready to use. I tend to use it after my morning jogs, or after my aerobic classes; but it can be used after or during any exercise.
The Pusle Pro watch can be used by people of any age, even children to get them a good head start in awareness of their physical health! I like to keep a track record of my readings to help me see the difference from certain exercises so I can adjust my work out regime accordingly.
The only thing I don't like about the Pulse Pro watch, is it seems like the battery will have to be replaced by a jeweler. I can't tell you the # of watches I have in my dresser drawer, that were placed there when the battery went dead. Too lazy, to take time to bring them to get the battery replaced, isn't that awful? Well, I guess it is a matter of perspective, it just gives me a good excuse to buy a nice new watch, hee-hee!
Pulse Pro watch: Is there any other complete "sports watch?"
Not in my opinion. You can expect to lay out a little over a Benjamin w/tax for the Pulse Pro watch; but it will be a long term, wise investment in your health. So if you want a great multi-functioning sports watch, with the most up to date innovative technology, a watch that can provide as accurate of a reading of your heart rate, (in the comfort of your own home or health club), as in the Doctor's office; I strongly urge you to consider the Pulse Pro watch as your next investment to help in monitoring your overall health & wellness!
