Pros: Incredibly well maintained landscaping, several very good restaurants on property, many very fine amenities.
Cons: Resort is an incubator from the reality of the thirdworld citizens residing outside its gates.
The Bottom Line: Great for golfers and couples, well-behaved families. An excellent location for relaxation, but not very safe to travel outside of the property's gates. Very excellent security.

| thimbee's Full Review: Punta Cana Resort And Club |
Punta Cana Resort and Club has it all and a few hidden gems, too. My husband and I were there in January 2007. Several restaurants, all very good, plus an extensive buffet both in the morning and evening included in the price of your room. Our room was immaculately cleaned everyday and our maid service was beyond the call of duty, with extras left for us every day including towel origami! Rent a golf cart for your stay, you won't regret it, so you will be able to travel end-to-end through the resort's paths, golf course and sandy beaches. Even though we are not golfers, anyone can appreciate the pristine property maintenance and views of the ocean. We drove that golf cart from end to end and beyond! There is an amazing spring fed lagoon found on the property's jungle trail that reminded me of what Eden must have been like... the clarity and color of the water with fish and a couple of turtles joining you for a plunge. Go early, before the sun dips behind the trees and the water is refreshing but not too chilly. The wind was unexpected, but the water color and beautiful beaches spread along the property's coastline made it easy to find your own private paradise. Try lunch at the Golf Club... it's possible that it was the best meal we had the entire time we were there. Accross the street from the property's gates is an extension that includes a petting zoo, an iguana colony and riding stables. The young Belizean man who cared for the animals was amazing, informative and exuded a real love for the critters he cares for. There is a a little beauty salon on the resort's property that gave me the best clean manicure I ever had. Forget the wireless lounge, though... I couldn't get online once. There was a serious Euro presence at this location, which was a little more refined than my usual adventure-style travel preferences. This resort carries an exclusive luxury feel, not many folks were "laid back" and casual. It was more froo-froo than I like to travel, but not so "over the top" that I was out of my element completely. WARNING: Dont' leave the property unless you feel there is an excursion you just have to try. Thieves and bus hold-ups are more common than anyone will lead you to believe. Be safe and stay on the resort property.
