I wasn't aware of this until about a year ago and even then, it never occurred to me that it would be so handy for travel. But nowadays, I keep a small bottle on me to sanitize my hands wherever I am, especially after I've been at a public place, like malls, playgrounds, etc. It's much easier to at least sanitize the hands before I get home than trying to remember to get everyone to wash their hands.
Purell is an alcoholic gel-like liquid that when spread on the hands, will kill 99.99% of germs on contact. This can be very handy when you are not near any water and can't wash your hands, before you eat. When you're travelling, it's very handy to have since even those wet towellettes don't kill the bacteria or germs. But it's still better than not washing or cleaning your hands. Your best bet to properly wash or at least sanitize your hands when there's no water around is to use something like Purell.
Simply pour a small dab of the gel-like liquid on your hand and spread it around the front and back of your hands just like you're washing them. You will notice that it feels cool to the touch (it's due to the alcohol). Quickly rub the dab of Purell all over your hands to spread it around. It will and should kill all the bacteria and germs on contact. Due to the alcohol content, it will quickly evaporate and dry up, leaving your hand, cool, dry and germ free. But, also due to the alcoholic content, it will dry your hands if you use it often during the day (maybe more than 5 times). I would only use it when there is no water available for hand washing or maybe once a day.
Purell contains 62% Ethyl Alcohol. And it's flammable, being of alcohol content, so make sure that it's not stored near anything hot that can potentially ignite it. Also, do not use it near the eyes as it will cause irritation. Be careful when using Purell with small children.
I personally prefer to get the Purell with Aloe (green in color) which somewhat helps keep the hand less dry with moisturizers and vitamin E rather than the regular one (non colored).
Nowadays, I keep one in the car, one in my pocket and one at home so that I can at least try to prevent the spread of germs into the house. This is especially important when you have kids and it's so easy for kids to get sick.
This isn't a replacement for regular hand washing, but it certainly makes it much easier to keep the hands germ free and prevent the spread of diseases.
Thanks for taking the time to read and rate my review.
