Periodically I like to supplement my adult dog's regular dog food fare with a bit of a treat, something different. The last trip to the store resulted in a box of Purina Moist & Meaty Burger with Cheddar Cheese Flavor. The product was on sale and Purina has always been a reliable brand.  Nala's vote on this food was a resounding yes. She loved it and ate every bite.

I hate canned pet foods most of the time because they are messy and often hard to get out of the can. Most of the pouch-type meals are also messy. But these pouches are awesome; the food comes right out with no mess at all. Very easy for me to add some of te Purina Moist & Meaty Burger with Cheddar Cheese flavor on top of Nala's regular fare. I was very happy with the way this food serves up.

Out of curiosity sake, I read the ingredients listed on the box, something I rarely do with dog and cat food and which I obviously should be paying closer attention to. While there are certainly some good ingredients in this product, I was extremely disappointed to find that it contains High Fructose Corn Syrup and additional Corn Syrup. Now why on earth would they need to add these items to dog food?  I also found the dyes very concerning, noting that Yellow 6 and Red 40 are health-risk identified and I don't think they are much healthier for pets than they are for people.  As a final aside, I find myself wondering what "beef by-product" is. Ten again, maybe I don't want to know. Because of these things I will not be purchasing this product again, sadly, because as I noted above, Nala really enjoyed it.

Truthfully, I am now afraid to look at the ingredients on the other Purina products I have for my pets. Maybe I need to learn to make home-made dog and cat food.

Purina Moist & Meaty Burger with Cheddar Cheese Flavor is recommended for adult dogs. There is a feeding chart on the box that identifies how much food to feed your adult dog daily based on his or her weight.

I sent an email to Purina to object to the High Fructose Corn Syrup and dyes (Yellow 6 and Red 40). Hopefully they can make this product healthier for my pet so I can buy it again in the future.
