| JasonNYCity's Full Review: Puttanesca |
Yes, a picture of a woman of ill repute on the menu. That is what a puttana is after all. I'll have to order pasta puttanesca next visit.
They serve you bread with (a nice) olive oil and a small dish with olives and spicy carrots when they seat you. Nice touch!
I ordered linguine with white clam sauce ($13)which had absolutely delicious & fresh clams. We ordered the pasta selection split into 2 bowls (for $1 extra) which still leaves you with 2 good sized portions. The octopus with spicy olive oil appetizer ($8) was the best octopus I can remember having, since it was very tender. The spicy olive oil wasn't actually spicy, but had a nice flavor. The red snapper (lemon & herbs) ($16) was also incredibly fresh and delicious, and was covered in capers.
As you can see, the prices are very good here.
The restaurant does get crowded and noisy quickly, and did so by 6:30pm or so on a Friday night. The speedy and attentive service kept everything moving smoothly even though they were busy. I did hear the waiter tell the busboy (in Italian) how long it would be before we would be done, but it was busy (and they needed the table even though it was only 6:30pm) so I guess that is alright.
I have hard some detractors talk about this place, but our food really was excellent.
