Pratchett at his best, definitely! In just a few hundred pages, PTerry manages to satirize not only the whole of ancient Egyptian society but the whole of modern society as well! I've studied Egypt at some length, and not only the characters but the situations they find themselves in would probably be appreciated by even the Pharoahs!
Though this book barely mentions everyone's favorite city of Ankh-Morpork and gives no mention at all of all the well-known characters on the Disc that every PTerry fan has grown to love, it still manages to be one of the best books ever. It was the first Discworld book I'd ever read and what a welcome change it was! As I said, I've studied the religion and culture of Ancient Egypt, and at first I was a bit leary of reading anything like this. I was afraid it'd be based on half-understood scraps of knowledge garnered at the edges of the King Tut exhibit or something, but I needn't have worried. The master satirist did his research very well.
If you've read PTerry before, then you'll know what to expect, and you won't be disappointed. If you've never read any of PTerry's works then you have a real treat in store!
