Pros: Magnetic bail->no spring to break, low profile body, great bearings, and smooth!
Cons: Well for the fair weather fisherman just price!
The Bottom Line: After being scared of the cost I can say that I feel I got a deal, that how much better this thing is than a cheaper/lower quality reel. Buy one!

| idsign's Full Review: Quantum Catalyst Pti Spinning Reel |
The model I own is the Quantum Catalyst PTi (CT20PTi). I have owned it for about a year and gave it a good spring and summer of action, heavy at times. I paid about $95 dollars for the reel which is a big deal to me as far as fishing gear prices go but I knew I was going to do alot of fishing last year, and I did. I always speant $30-50 before with no luck finding a dependable reel even for moderate use. To help those that don't like to read longer reviews I will some up my experience with the reel as follows: A dream, night and day difference from the cheaper reels, I am think of buying another Quantum PT reel.
Now for a quick hash of what this reel has to offer:
a Polymer-stainless hybrid 8-bearing system, a ThinLine aluminum body, a TiMAG II titanium bail with magnetic bail trip, Super-low-friction Continuous Anti-Reverse II, a Ceramic drag system, Quantum Hot Sauce lubrication, Scratch-resistant vacuum deposition coating, Quantum Hot Sauce lubrication, a spare aluminum spool included, and a 5.17:1 gear ratio. What this equites to is a beautiful reel to look at with a low profile body that preforms like a pit bull in a chihuahua body.
I fish mainly for walleye but also fish for perch, small mouth bass, large mouth bass, crappie, and what ever else happens along. This past spring I caught about 20+ Walleye from shore with this reel after the spawning runs. It cast like a dream, the magnetic bail performs flawlessly, and reels in so smooth. I was actually impressed with what I got for my $95 cash outlay. Later in spring I really punished this reel. I had several large Sturgeon give the ceramic drag a tortourously solid workout. I also had a nasty run in with a large Dog fish and boy can those thing run for a smaller fish. The Quantum walked away from each beating performing the same as when I pulled it out of the box - Great!
If you have the money and are looking for a great line of reels check out the Quantum Catalyst line. I was kinda of scared about the price and attachment to Zebco( Quantum Parent) but I am converted! You have to actually use this reel to really appreciate it. I dont own any other high end reels but I would wager to say it holds its own againt the others in the $100-150 price range.
