| cymsteve's Full Review: Quic Disc Sport Drink Tablets |
WHAT IS IT?: Each sachet contains 3 giant discs that you mix in a standard 16oz bottle of water to make a tasty, non-carbonated, grape-flavored fuel. The idea is to replace lost fluids and minerals both during and after exercise, similar to other sports drinks on the market (eg Gatorade), but being much more convenient.
INGREDIENTS: Sucrose, Dextrose, Maltodextrin, natural grape flavor, salt, sodium citrate, monopotassium phosphate, ascorbic acid, citric acid. This creates a combination of complex (maltodextrin) and quick burning (sucrose / dextrose) carbohydrates to give you (a) an initial boost followed by (b) longterm energy throughout your workout.
NUTRITIONAL VALUE: Calories 140, Fat 0g, Carbs 35g, Protein 0g, Sodium 220mg, Potassium 60mg, Vitamin C 100% daily requirement.
Quic Discs are unique in that they are the only sports nutrition available in tablet form. They can be mixed with water or even eaten like a sweet tart, however I'd recommend washing them down with plenty of water if you do this. For long workouts I need to keep hydrated and keep up my energy levels, Quic Disc is the perfect way to do this without having to carry powders, gels and energy bars - as long as you have access to water, you have yourself a very good sports drink which tastes good too.
