Pros: Good feel-well balanced-curved shaft-white markings for alignment.
Cons: You can still three putt. UGH!
The Bottom Line: I am getting better alignment to the hole with this putter. The white line on top helps and the swing weight is good to keep it on a straight line.

| grandgram's Full Review: RAM Zebra Classic Putter |
I am finishing off this series of golf reviews with my 300th review they show some of my golf purchases and how they are working out. I have had a great time with epinions and made many friends. I have been educated on how to write complete reviews plus it gave me an incentive to pursue other writing projects. It has been great fun and I hope to be around to write 300 more.
FINDING A NEED
I guess that puts me in this category as the title suggest with my review on my new Callaway Driver. I now thought I needed a new putter. My little blade putter has been with me for so many years and all those nicks and bumps on it proves its age. Well I was getting beat with some of my erratic putts and decided to try the mallet style putter like some of my friends who were having good luck with this type of putter.
INTERNET SHOPPING
I went on the Internet and was checking out this style of putter on my favorite web sites and found that www.TGW.com was having a sale on their Ram Zebra Classic Putter for $29.95. I thought this would be a good chance to get a new mallet putter with a good brand name for very little money. The putter arrived by UPS and I immediately had to try it out on my porch carpet. This gives you a good chance to feel the balance and correctly lining up the ball. One thing I did not like about it was the zebra striped putter cover so I used my old black mesh patriotic one that went with my other club covers. In golf style means everything, I am a nut for things matching, its the artist in me. Well it also means I am patriotic and want to show it.
THE PUTTER
A Zebra putter is recognized for its stripes or what they call alignment lines on top of the putter head. Another feature of this putter is the patented Z-bend shaft with those three-dimensional alignment lines that then produces a good visual effect on lining up your putt. They claim that this increases accuracy and consistency and will benefit every gofer. I did find out this to be true, with that center white line it is much easier to line up your putt especially when there is a lot of break to the greens. I am right handed and that is the only style this putter was selling at this close out price. It is 35 inches in length. It stated that this putter was retailed at $60.00 but a close out sale of $29.95. It stated there was limited availability and selection would vary.
PUTTER IN USE
I have used this putter on our practice greens and found the alignment and swing weight of this putter excellent. I did have trouble with testing the distant to the hole but this will come with time as one gets used to the different style of putter. My first full round playing with this putter was in our Ladies Golf League Match. To say the Ram Zebra Classic Putter helped our team to win maybe is saying too much but we did beat the top team in the league. I had many close putts and no three putts for the full round so that was satisfactory to me for a new putter. I am getting better at judging the distances the ball will have to roll with this putter. Our club has some of the fastest green around and we have some of the State Mens Tournaments held at our club and they all praise our greens. So putting is very important to your game and this putter is going to help my score and handicap. The handle of the putter is wrapped with a black and white cushioned grip so it makes it easy to have control of the putter. I found the grip was square and seems rather thick, so I chock down on the club for a firmer grip. I have learned that in a good putting stroke it is a shoulder turn back and through, no pulls or pushes will work on our greens. This Zebra putter is working its magic and I am getting used to the different look from my blade putter to this mallet style putter.
MY FINAL SAY
I think my golf shopping days are over, I have outdone myself with a whole new look with some great new clubs and all the things that goes with playing golf. I am able to play this game all year with my time in Texas during the winter months. As my life has changed dramatically since my husband passed away, I may be contemplating a permanent move to Salado, Texas where I also have many friends and golfing partners. The winters in Iowa are tough to take when you would rather be where it is warmer and golf is available all year round. YOU WILL MISS YEARS OF ENJOYMENT IF YOU GIVE UP ON GOLF TOO SOON!!
