After owning this Camcorder for over a year I still can't fault it. Initially I was put off by the brand name (RCA) and have been surprised.
Technical stuff:
The Camcorder is balanced and fits in your hand very well. Smaller camcorders tend to shake more.
The Still Photo and Video Mode work well. 1.3MPixels for Photos works for most snapshots.
The Video mode is very good. The features you get for the price out-perform some of the higher end models. All the sepia/color modes are there. Zoom, Manual/Auto Focus, Manual/Auto balance etc. Anti-shake works well.
I've used the AV very successfully and the camcorder is 1394 compliant. I've used Win ME and XP successfully.
The display is a touch screen type with very good resolution. It can be twisted and detached for remote-control work. Some people don't like the fact that the display will get finger prints on it.
Extras:
I have managed to get a number of accessories for it (which, if you're into serious/semi-serious video is a must). I bought some filters, fish-eye lenses and a polarizer for it. These are all off the shelf.
I bought an extra battery (which incidentally was for a Sharp Camcorder but fits perfectly - makes me suspect the origin of the Electronics!). I get about 3 hours from this battery and it uses the same stock charger.
A lot of my friends have commented about the accessories and always complain that they got nothing extra with theirs.
