| bolton2160's Full Review: RCA Kazoo RD1060 (64 MB) MP3 Player |
RCA K@Zoo RD 1060
I think this player is well worth the money. I did a lot of research on MP3 players before I purchased this one. I purchased mine just one week ago at Circuit City for $64 and I love it. Out of the box I was up and running in 10 minutes. I run Windows XP Home and after plugging the K@Zoo into the USB port, my computer recognized it as a mass storage drive right away
. Other complaints on this product were with the Music Match software so I decided to try and load music using Windows Media Player. It worked the first time. I have a lot of music copied from my CD collection saved as WMA files copied at 96 bps and Media player recognized the K@Zoo and I was able to transfer my files right over. Dragging and dropping also worked well
. Being adventurous I loaded and tried the Music Match 7.5 (download the standard version) and I think it works fine. You can tag all your tracks and search for music by Mood, Tempo, Artist and more. I upgraded to the full version for $19.99. It has more features than Windows Media Player and is pretty user friendly
.Recording my CDs at 96 bps makes them sound awesome and I can store more songs on my player. I tried ripping them at 64 bps but could tell the quality was off. The stock headphones are pretty decent but I cant wait to try a better pair and see how the sound is. The display is basic to say the least. Gives you basic information like track #, elapsed time, size of file. But when you listen to a portable CD player, that is about all the information you get.
The sound is remarkable, better than I expected. The player has 5 preset EQ settings, (Flat, Bass, Jazz, Rock, and Pop). Ive tried them all the Rock is the best sounding.
The big brother to this MP3 player, the RCA Lyra RD1070 has 128MB memory with an expansion slot for about $20.00 more. Check it out.
Everyone who complained about this MP3 player is out of their mind or not too computer savvy. Bottom line, out of the box you should be up and listening to your digital music in about 15 minutes, if not, get someone who knows how to use a computer to help you
