My baby grandson like remotes and hides them in remote places. I had to replace my last universal remote, so I did it with this RCA brand RCRN03BR 3 Device) Remote Control.

This remote control made by RCA can control up to three types of home devices including TV, Satellite Dish controls, Cable boxes, DTC, and both DVD and VCR appliances. For power the remote uses two AAA batteries that are not included.

Little ones like my grandson who help lose remotes don't read the labels so they don't know what kind of remote control they are dumping into the kitchen trash can. This replacement remote, thankfully covers most every brand made. The TV list was about 150 brands long! A quick look found some 100VCR-DVD brands and tons of Cable box and satelite brands too.

This remote can also enable direct access to new HD over the air digital sub-channels. Looks like about 40 if those brands too. I was also pleased to know that it can operate video games, entertainment centers and more. It's a handy little device.

Set Up

The set up of a remote control is something I never care for. It's a series of many steps ion search for the code that works for my particular brand and devices. Each needs to be set up separately and then can all work as needed. This RCA 3 device remote did have a few ways of doing it including the two that I always knew of.

The names for the searches are Auto Code Search, Brand Code Search, Direct Code Search and Manual Code Search. That last one is going through a list of codes for each device. Time consuming and the other hitting buttons in search through all and any combinations. That was also very time consuming.

I also tried the Auto search but quickly opted for the Brand Code Search
I did like that feature that gave a general code and then I pushed a series of buttons at which time scanned a number of options at a time. When a reaction was found, (that of the appliance turning off) the reverse button was pressed in more defined search for the number that I then found right away.

I like the slim look of this remote control. Some I have had were quite bulbous on the top end and some were hour glass shaped. I liked this and it fit into my hands well with a sleek look.

The controls are easy to read and big enough for my "fat" fingers. The buttons include those that one would expect with channels, sound, reverse, play, pause, and most everything I ever needed. Pic in pic included.

I like that much of the controls buttons are back lighted making it easier to use even in darkened rooms. Though I never needed it the instructions come with trouble shooting direction too.

All in all this RCA brand RCRN03BR 3 device remote control  has been a fine remote for me. I was able to set it up fairly quickly, though still tedious to me, and it worked on each device I owned and continues to do so.
