I'm very impressed with the theater system. The sound is crisp and clear. I didn't bother using the wire that came with the system though. I wired everything with 12 gauge just to make sure I got the best sound. I noticed better bass from the subwoofer after the wire upgrade. There is absolutely no static in this system, quiet scenes in movies are just that, quiet! The system can get very loud and shake things around the house. =)
I also liked the number of connection the receiver has. I have a Tivo, DVD, and a VCR connected with room to spare.
With my dvd player I run the sound via an optical cable and let the receiver do the decoding. It's excellent.
The speakers are not tiny like on a bose system but for under $300 you can spend your cash on more stuff, =).
Sometimes I'll watch football games with the stadium DSP feature turned on. It'll use the surround sounds speakers for your regular tv signal and make it sound like you're there.
Another nice feature is the night time feature, if you have neighbors or a sleeping spouse you can turn this on so when you're watching a dvd it softens the bass so you don't wake everybody up but still can hear what people are saying.
