pittysmom's Full Review: RCA S2001 (1 GB) MP3 Player
I bought this as my first MP3 player. I work in a garden, so the splashproof part sold me.
Now, let me just say I have never had an MP3 player before, aside from the one on my cell phone. So I just assumed this one would do all the basic functions, none of which I was familiar with before I bought it.
It does have the necessary software to load the tunes, and it does work adequately. The earbuds are decent, they do stay on the ears better than regular earbuds, they have little plastic ear clips. Not fashionable, but functional, I have trouble with regular buds falling out while I'm working.
It is a 1 GB size, fine for me, though you may need more space, and it does not support storage cards, it's only internal memory. So if you need more than 1gb of space, you can't expand with a card.
It has an FM tuner, decent reception for an MP3 player.
It also has a BMI function, in case I need to calculate my body mass index while I am listening to music. Not likely to use that...And a stopwatch, that might be useful for some people...
One thing it does NOT do, is import music playlists.
This kind of bugs me since my kids all borrow it, and I had to load lots of their songs on it. So you are stuck with scrolling past someone else's music, if you share this with anyone else.
Bottom line, OK for a casual user, but if you want to separate your music for different occasions, (car tunes, work tunes, workout tunes, etc.) you can't do it with this one.....
