Pros: romantic and heady scent
Cons: can be too strong
The Bottom Line: rich and sexy. The makers say the pheremones will help arouse the opposite sex. I just like the scent.

| naphtalia's Full Review: Realm 1.7oz Eau De Toilette Spray S Perfumes Realm... |
Well, it has been a week since I was perfume shopping last. I was looking for a new, nice, light scent for spring. Realm wasn't it. However, I've kept the fragrance card in my wallet as a reminder. Last night while I was walking through a fragrance store at the mall, I decided to give it a try on my skin. This fragrance is a winner.
Anytime you talk to a salesperson about Realm, the first thing you're likely to hear is that it contains pheremones. In fact, advertisements for the scent list pheremones as one of the middle (heart) notes of the fragrance. Pheremones are chemicals that animals give off to communicate. When ants die, they give off a funereal pheremone that causes other ants to move their carcasses out of the colony. Bees respond to pheremones that cause them to attack a hive from danger. Humans have pheremones to help attract members of the opposite sex. There is a long history behind the relatively recent discovery of human pheremones and how they work. Realm was created with the recent science of pheremones in mind.
Does it work? I didn't notice any difference in the treatment I received from males while wearing it, but perhaps it takes more than just the one time. In any case, I wouldn't recommend this for the attractive properties as much as the aroma.
The first thing you smell when you spray on Realm is mandarin. There are also some light floral notes, but primarily the sweet citrus of mandarin. As that fades, the next scents to emerge are pheremones (I'm told. I really don't know what they smell like.), rose, and honey. The honey and rose are nice. I was expecting them to be more cloying, but they are actually pleasant together. The base notes, the ones that last and that are still making my money smell good (love those fragrance cards!) are amber, cedar and vanilla. I love anything woodsy as a base note. After sandalwood, cedar is my favorite. Realm has a relatively strong scent. I would recommend it for romantic evenings. I would also recommend it more as a cold weather than a warm weather scent (which is why I didn't buy it this time, though I will later.)
Erox has two Realm fragrances - one for women and one for men. I have not smelled the Realm for men. I like the Realm for women very much. They are the only fragrances I am aware of which include pheremones (duplicated in a laboratory). Be warned that when you wear these, you may find yourself arousing more than just an olfactory sense in the opposite sex. If you're looking for an extra edge, Realm may give it to you. I don't know. I just know it's a fabulous scent.
