| Borger's Full Review: Hasbro: RACKO Card Game |
We just got this game in a gift basket I purchased at a silent auction. It's a very fun and simple game to play. It's for 2-4 players and recommended for ages 8 and up. I have a six year old and she can't quite figure it out yet. She still enjoys playing it with my help, and I'm sure this game will help her learn how to put her numbers in order.
Contents
This game comes with 60 cards numbered 1-60. Four card racks and a card tray to keep the draw and discard piles in.
Setup
Each player needs a card rack. Each player gets 10 cards and as the cards are dealt place each card in your rack starting at slot #50 in the back and work your way up to slot #5. Place the remaining cards in the card tray face down and turn one face up for the discard pile.
Playing
The object of the game is to get the cards in numerical order from lowest to highest. When it's your turn you can take a card from the draw pile or take the top card from the discard pile. If you take a card from the draw pile you can exchange with one card from your rack or if you don't need it just put it in the discard pile. If you take a card from the discard pile you must exchange it with a card from your rack and then put that one in the discard pile. As soon as you get all cards in order you say "Racko" and you win.
Now for our family we consider that a game, but you are suppose to keep track of points and the first one to 500 wins.
Scoring
The first player to say Racko gets 75 points. The other players score 5 points for each card that is in correct numerical order starting with the first card and ending where the numerical order has been broken. So if your first three cards are in order and the next two are out of order and the last five are in order you only get 15 points. Even though the last five cards are in order the progression was broken so they don't count.
Variations
You can add this rule for some more fun: You can't say racko unless you have at least three cards in exact consecutive order like 24, 25, 26 or 5, 6, 7 etc...
You can also play partners, each set of partners would keep a combined score, the first pair to 500 wins.
