Mininut's Full Review: Radio Flyer 21 Fold 2 Go Trike Pack Of 2
When my now 3 year old was about 18 months old he became fascinated with his big brother and big sister’s bicycles. I had began looking at tricycles but most were just too large for him and were made for 3 years and older. I came across this Radio Flyer Fold 2 GO Tricycle and was immediately intrigued by it and did the one thing I rarely ever do, I did an impulse buy and brought it home.
Tell me about the Radio Flyer Fold 2 GO Tricycle This is not the typical “I had that when I was a kid” tricycle. As my 9 year old puts it, “this is the more modern tricycle for the up and coming toddlers.” The frame on this Trike is made of steel (yes some companies actually use quality parts these days!); the rest of the Trike is molded durable and easy to clean plastic. This Trike measures a mere 24" x 15" x 19” and only weighs about 23lbs so it is easy to carry and store. This Trike is intended for children 18 months old and up.
What my kids love about the Trike. This poor Trike has been used and abused by not one but 2 children now and still it keeps on going strong. The size of this Trike is a huge plus, while I have always had very large children they still seem to fit very well on it and they can maneuver it easily. Around the kitchen, down the hall, circle the back bedroom, circle the office and back to the kitchen for a few 360’s around the kitchen table. The storage bucket on this bike is never empty, usually toting handfuls of hot wheels, balls and tools and the occasional doll my daughter will toss in just to laugh at her brothers. The bell on this Trike will send your children into fits of giggles while giving you a mind numbing headache at the same time. Not to worry, the bell is plastic and wont last as long as the Trike.
What does Mom loves about the Trike? Let’s talk size again, this thing only weighs 23 lbs that is literally more than half of what my youngest weighed at 18 months old so it is a snap to carry and move around. I can take this thing anywhere we go. To grandma’s, aunts, and yes the mall. Storing and transporting this Trike is a breeze as well simply pull back the lever located under the seat and fold. You can store this in a closet, on the wall in the garage or anywhere else for that matter. The rubber grips on the handle bars make it easy for kids to grab hold and the bright red pedals are nice and wide for those feet that just aren’t coordinated quite yet. I love the Primary colors of this Trike, the red; yellow and blue really make this Trike stand out and is very appealing to the eye.
But my kids don’t like the color blue! Don’t worry, if you have one of those really picky children like my daughter is you don’t have to settle for a red yellow and blue Trike. Radio Flyer also sells this Trike in the original red and white trademarked with Radio Flyer and for that little princess in your life you can purchase the pink and purple one as well.
So how easy is this to clean? There is literally nothing hard about this tricycle. Made of heavy molded plastic and steel you can simply take it out side and spray it down with the water hose. We do this on car wash days so the kids can wash their “rides” as well. It is safe to use soap and water, bleach or any other chemical on this Trike. Nothing sticks to this Trike from dried on play dough and stickers by the dozen it all peels right off as do all those decorations made by markers and crayons. The storage bucket also snaps off the Trike so that you can wash it in the sink just incase your kids decide to try and make Jell-O in their storage bucket or carry opened jars of jelly in the storage buckets.
What about assembly? Go to your local store and purchase one of these between $45 and $50 each. Take it home, pull the lever under the seat and fold it out and let your little one ride. There is no assembly required for this Trike so tell your husband to put away his tool box and hand him a drink as he sulks to the garage because he couldn’t play with his tools.
Radio Flyer Customer service I am a huge fan of Radio Flyer and mainly because they stand behind their products 100%. If you have a damaged part on any of their products you can simply go to their website at http://www.radioflyer.com/ and fill out a simple form and they will replace the damaged piece absolutely FREE. Or you can call them at 1-800-621-7613. Their website contains everything from frequently asked questions, catalog requests, tips to putting items together and instructions on how to put together specific items, just in case you have lost yours. And of course all recall information can be found on their site as well. Safety First This is a bike so when your little one is outside riding their Trike they should always wear a helmet. Never let your child ride alone outside with out you and never let them ride in the street.
My Overall Opinion. This is a wonderful Trike that will last for years to come. $45-$50 is really cheap if you have or are planning to have multiple children because this Trike can be handed down from child to child. I highly recommend this Trike to all moms of toddlers; the smiles you will get when they are riding are priceless.
