Pros:Lotsa nice chrome.
Quiet.
Easily adjustable.
Despenses well.
Cons:Just doesn't feed beans with any oil.
Ground container not easily removable
The Bottom Line: It doesn't work well, but, HEY, it's Italian!
I bought a Rocky grinder along with a Rancilio Silvia from 1st line (http://www.1st-line.com/). The Rocky has been frustrating from day 1. This thing will simply not feed beans with any amount of surface oil. They (the beans) just hang up. I have to reach in and push the beans down into the feed slot with my fingers. I don't want to think how close my fingers are getting to the grinding burrs! Of course, a bit of oil on the bean is absolutely necessary to allow compressing the ground coffee into the expresso filter "cup" -- beans without oil are not cohesive, and just blow around when the steaming hot water is sent through the filter.
Another problem, which may be common to most grinders like this, is that the container/dispenser which holds the ground coffee, and from which it is dispensed into the expresso filter assembly, is not easily removable. I would like to be able to pull it off, empty the expresso grind, put it back on, and grind another batch for my french press or my girl friends drip machine (she just ain't got religion yet.....).
On the plus side, it is quiet. It's easily adjustable for grind, and when it actually feeds, it does a good job.
