This past summer I looked into buying a new bat for my American Legion season. There were several new bats on the market because high school baseball had instituted a new regulation on all high school bats, which was that they all have a length to weight ratio of minus 3. In looking into the bat market there were several options, Easton's Z-Core, the Air Attack 3, and Rawlings Mac Attack. I had always had Rawlings equipment in the field, just never at the plate, but I liked the design of the bat and the way it felt so I bought it. To me, the bat felt really light and well-balanced. At first I was concerned with the way the bat looked, but I quickly got over my fear when I began to hit with the bat. It swung remarkably well, and it was easy to hit the ball on the fat part of the bat. I began to be able to drive the ball better into the gaps, and because of the light weight I could wait back much better on offspeed pitches. The only complaint I had was when halfway through the year the bat seemed to lose its pop, and when I hit the ball it sounded dead off the barrel. It got so bad, that I had to use my teammates bats for the remaining weeks of the season. Though, I did still hit the ball well, in part because I believe the Mac Attack helped me to learn how to consistantly hit the ball on the barrel. I would recommend this bat to another player, but I would caution them to make sure of some kind of warranty on the bat because although it has a lot of pop, it lacks the staying power of the more traditional models.
