Silky soft, smooth and shiny - that's my hair thanks to Redken All Soft Conditioner

Product Rating:
Pros: is truly a conditioner for dry hair, great ingredients
Cons: hard to find, price, owned by L'Oreal (tests on animals)
The Bottom Line: Finally! A product that says it's for dry hair that actually is! Redken's All Soft Conditioner is the best I have found and worth every penny!
bops_mom's Full Review: Redken All Soft Conditioner
I have very dry hair and have been searching for *the* shampoo and conditioner for me. Thus far, drugstore shampoo's and conditioner's which say they're for dry hair have turned out to be more like for those with normal hair who'd like a bit more moisture without having their hair weighed down. They have not been for those who, like me, have seriously dry hair and a dry scalp.
So, even though it's taken me this long to venture into the pricier hair care items, I've done it. I've quickly found that like any drugstore product, the higher ends will also have hits and misses. Thankfully, Redken's All Soft Conditioner is a total hit!
About the product
I had ordered the coordinating Shampoo from www.drugstore.com, but alas, they didn't carry the conditioner (ggggrrrrrr!). Thus began my hunt to find Redken's All Soft Conditioner locally. No one had it! I looked everywhere (Hair Salons, Trade Secret, Regis) for 2 weeks, everyone was sold out. Finally, I was able to get my hands on the last bottle at Regis. I paid $8.95 for a 8.5 fl. oz. bottle.
Redken's All Soft Conditioner comes in a sturdy plastic bottle with a flip top/squeeze top lid making it very easy to get just the right amount of product out without any going to waste. My bottle lasted me 4 months with daily use.
Here's what Redken has to say about this product:
"Smoothes, shines in seconds and helps hair stand the heat of blow dryers or irons."
-- taken from www.redken.com
And here's what they have to say about the entire Redken All Soft Line:
"Softness to slip your fingers through. All Soft delivers Avocado Oil to moisturize hair above and beyond what you expect. Use All Soft daily for long-term softness, even if your hair is dry, or wiry, frizzy, brittle and rough to the touch."
bops_mom's Redken's All Soft Conditioner Experience
My hair is dry, my hair is brittle, my hair breaks off easily. My hair is fine, my hair is thin, my hair is wavy. My hair is the kind of hair that can have a hot oil treatment used on it every other day and it wouldn't be too much. My scalp is also dry and very sensitive, lots of products make my scalp itch.
Some products tend to weigh my hair down and since I have fine, thin hair, this isn't a good thing for me.
Redken's All Soft Conditioner (which I will add right here, I've never used without first using Redken's All Soft Shampoo, which I would have reviewed if some yahoo had added it to Epinions database when they added this product -- anyway) is a normal consistency for a conditioner - or maybe a little thicker. It's not a cream (though Redken's All Soft Heavy Cream is - I also have this and love it), but think non-runny lotion and you've got it.
The scent is very pleasant. It's light, fresh, clean and slightly sweet. The scent does tend to stay on my hair throughout the day, but that's fine with me. Should a male type care to use this product, no worries, you will not smell all girlie.
I can honestly say that the very first day I used this product I could see a difference. My hair was so much softer than it had been. It had more shine and much less frizz. My hair was not weighed down in the least, it in fact looked much fuller and had more body to it than I'd seen in a long time. With continued use (my bottle is now empty) these results have kept consistent.
The only "bad" things I can say about this product are how my hair color (dyed) did fade some, it's hard for me to find locally and I'd like it if it cost less although I think it's worth the asking price. Redken is owned by L'Oreal; L'Oreal tests on animals. That's it, that's the worst I can say about Redken's All Soft Conditioner. All in all, this product really does live up to it's claims.
bops_mom's Recommendation
I've heard (hi Kimm) that Redken's All Soft line is better suited for those of us with wavy to curly hair, although if you have straight hair I'd still suggest you give Redken's All Soft Conditioner a try.
I've been very happy with what Redken's All Soft Conditioner has done for me. Granted, I have used it in conjunction with the All Soft Shampoo and the All Soft Heavy Cream, but I'm sure that Redken's All Soft Conditioner also has a lot to do with how smooth, soft, shiny and full my hair has been. I do plan to buy another bottle, but first, I've got a set of shampoo/conditioners to use up from Philosophy. After that my hunt for another bottle of Redken's All Soft Conditioner will begin.
Thanks for reading!

With thanks to Shantel who would have added the All Soft Shampoo and All Soft Heavy Cream for me in a matter of seconds if only Epinions allowed her to add hair care items.
