jenb123's Full Review: Redken All Soft Conditioner
I have always thought that salon products were overpriced and overrated. Maybe it has to do with the way I was brought up, maybe I've seen a few too many Suave commercials. I've always had trouble with my dry, curly, thick hair. Coloring it and living in a none-too-hair-friendly Chicago climate certainly doesn't help.
On a few friends' recommendations, I treated myself to a "high-end" conditioner, Redken All Soft. The bottle is half the size and more than twice the price of what I typically use, but I was getting frustrated with my dry, brittle hair.
I sucked this stuff up...
Well, my hair sure did. The first time I used my Redken All Soft Conditioner, my thirsty curls literally drank up every last drop of the conditioner. I have very thick hair, the curls are very tight and can tangle and frizz. Normally, I need gobs of conditioner and a wide tooth comb to detangle my hair. I then have to rinse the heck out of my hair so that the cheaper conditioners don't flatten or dull my hair.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that my fingers and comb could glide through my hair when I used Redken All Soft. The silky conditioner softened my brittle ends and added some shine to my dull (in need of a color touch-up) locks. I even found that excessive rinsing wasn't necessary, the conditioner was absorbed by my hair. To be honest, I now use a tiny bit of this conditioner as a leave-in. It helps keep my curls healthy looking.
What's that smell?
(Insert tasteless one-liner here)
As if the conditioner's performance wasn't reason enough to rave about it, the scent is amazing. It is really hard to describe, but it is a light, buttery and slightly floral scent. It reminds me of Burt's Bees Avocado Butter and words like delicious and decadent come to mind.
The scent lingers, though in a subtle way. I wish they would bottle the aroma as a body spray, another reason to use Redken All Soft as a leave-in conditioner. Good stuff.

As I was saying...
According to Redken, the reason this product works so well is a combination of proteins, amino acids, and avocado oil. They bill this combo as their exclusive Interbond Conditioning System. I call it damn good stuff.
I also decided to share this lovely stuff with my daughter, Amanda. My wavy-haired eight year old has been complaining of big, frizzy hair that won't lie straight, yet doesn't curl. I treated her to a dollop of All Soft and the results were quite noticeable. Her hair was shiny, healthier looking, curlier and just plain good. She didn't have snarls or tangles and had a "good hair day."
The results for both my hair and Amanda's, may well justify the extra few bucks this product costs. Or that's how I'll explain the purchases to my husband.
All Soft is all good...
My only complaints would be the high prices and the "salon only" concept. Redken products are "prescribed" in salons and are mainly sold by them. Fortunately, you can also find Redken All Soft at Ulta stores and at several online merchants. I have even seen some Redken products at my local Target and at Osco Drug.
It took me thirty years, but I think I have finally found a truly effective conditioner that lives up to what it claims. It smells as good as it works and it really does work well. My new favorite conditioner is Redken All Soft.
