| lojack_ii's Full Review: Reebok Question Mid |
To slip into this shoe and lace it up, you will feel great in it. It has the right amount of padding throughout the shoe and suprisingly nice cushioning. But, walking around your bedroom and running around the court in it is a little different. Read the detailed review:
CUSHIONING (B)
Pretty good. Not as good as your Air Max shoes but it's slightly above average. It has the older "hexalite" system of sole cushioning which is a honeycomb impact absorbing substance. I don't think it is far removed preformance wise from Reebok's new DMX cushioning.
TRACTION (B)
Decent. It'll stick to a clean court pretty well but struggles a little bit on dusty ones. If you plan on wearing these outside and then also for indoor basketball then you might have a problem. They seem to attract dust. If you play on a high quality court and don't mind wiping the bottoms off during freethrows every now and then the traction should be just fine for you.
GENERAL FEEL (B+)
Generally good. You get a secure fit around your foot with little slippage when laced fairly tight. The only problem is that the mid-cuts are a little high and if you want to wear low socks, the material around your ankle might irritate you after a while. This can probably be avoided with higher socks and the shoes look great with socks up half-mass anyway in my opinion. They are a little heavy and a little clunky but nothing to run away from. If you can try them on first for yourself you might not even find this to be true but some people might want a lighter more responsive shoe. If you play in the post, this will be a great shoe. It's strong and sturdy enough to bang in but also made so you can get out in the open court and really move as well.
DURABILITY (B)
I'm on my second pair right now so I can tell you how they hold up over time. The answer is pretty good. They don't crease like a regular shoe would because of the patch at the toe. Like I mentioned above, the bottoms get dusty after a while but you can scrub them clean with a simple brush. The only concern I have are the plastic little platelets that cover the lace-loops and the plastic covers on the hexalite pockets in sole. I've only experienced a couple of the lace-loop plastic covers to break but that doesn't harm performance and you barely tell if you just remove it.
CONCLUSION
If you can find them for a good price on the net or on sale, I would definately tell you to get them. They are definately one of the nicest shoes ever made (I like the white w/blue or red pearlized tips) and perform excellently for their price. Even at the regular price ($100) I think I would recommend them but you can probably find them on the net for cheaper--I did.
