Magick1's Full Review: Reese's Pieces Peanut Butter 17.5oz
My daughter, who recently turned 5, was enthralled with a little alien on the tv the other day. My husband and I had stopped to watch it, as it was roughly 25 years ago this movie came out and we had not seen it in years! While we were watching it, my daughter stopped to check out what was going on and at first, she wasn’t interested. That was until the alien ET showed up, and then she was hooked!
My daughter was trying to figure out what the little colorful candies were that were left on the ground for the little boy to follow. We tried to explain they were like M & M’s with peanut butter inside rather than chocolate and she just was just enchanted by that idea, as she loves peanut butter! My husband was in the store the other day, thought about her and decided to purchase a bag of these little candies because he knows that I love them and he wanted to be the first to introduce them to his daughter!
The Product
These little candies are the size of the chocolate M & M’s with yellow, orange and brown colored candy shells. They have a nice crunch to the shell and inside is a hidden delightful taste of peanut buttery goodness! The peanut butter tastes like the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups peanut butter. But, since you are only getting a little taste of the peanut butter that is wrapped tightly in the colored candy shells, it’s just enough peanut butter to whet your appetite and make you want to eat handful upon handful of these little guys!
The shells surrounding the peanut butter are very, very thin. If you take a small bite out of one of these candies and look inside it, you will see the candy shell is paper thin. The peanut butter stuff inside is a nice light tan color, just like you would see if you opened a jar of peanut butter. Now, mind you, you would be much better to open a jar of peanut butter and chomp a spoonful of this rather than eating these candies. But, once in a while, these candies are delicious to nibble on for a small treat!

Sugar; partially defatted peanuts; partially hydrogenated vegetable oil (palm kernel and soybean oil); reduced minerals whey (milk); dextrose; contains 2% or less of: corn syrup; salt; soy lecithin; artificial color (blue 1 lake; red 40 lake; yellow 5 lake; yellow 6 lake); carnauba wax; resinous glaze; and artificial flavor.

Overall Impressions
While I do try to watch what I ingest, I sometimes enjoy having things that are completely bad for me too. I haven’t had any Reese’s Pieces in years and likely would not have had any of these now, if it weren’t for the hubby being so cute and buying them for our daughter. She got to try about 10 pieces of these little candies and this will be all that she will get. I am taking these to work to put in the little candy dish so that everyone else can share in the memories of the movie ET and get some sugary sweetness to satisfy a craving!
I see the main ingredient first on the list is sugar and then shortly after follows hydrogenated something or other….hydrogenated this or that is never a good thing, therefore, it won’t be crossing the threshold in the house again. There are other, better sweet-tooth squashing things on the market!
While it was great taking a moment to walk down memory lane, I definitely enjoyed the trip, I won’t be taking that journey again anytime soon! The flavor was nice, but like a lot of things, my memory of them was sadly disappointed when I nibbled on them now.
If you like taking small trips down memory lane, you might enjoy a couple of these little candies and the sweetness that tickles your taste buds.
