Scanglobe Replogle Globe 4 Kids stands almost 16 inches tall. It is a 10 inch globe on a blue stand with an electrical cord that has a switch to turn on and off the lighted globe. It has pictures all over the globe showing children the peoples and animals of different countries, the boats and planes in or flying over the ocean, and various landmarks around the world. It lights up from the inside of the globe. The pictures on the globe are not raised. Made in the United States.

Since we had such a time ordering and receiving this globe from www.netshops.com http://www.epinions.com/content_432120893060 , our experience was not good to start with. We are happy with this illuminated globe for kids. Globe 4 Kids is a fabulous item for educational value. It is very colorful and vivid for children.

Love the details on this globe. Bigger than life! The light inside the Globe 4 Kids is ingenius! Really is great at nighttime. My daughter enjoys looking at the globe and seeing all of the bright colorful pictures. She has spent a lot of time searching out various parts of the world. She will see someone of another country on tv and say "hey I can find China!", then look for it on her globe!
I love how there are penguins in Antartica, whales in the ocean, sharks by Australia, squid in the sea, panda bears in China, camels in the Sahara Desert, toucans in Brazil, pyramids in Kairo, and so many more pictures on this globe! The light inside of the globe does not get very hot, it makes a soft glow at night. The words are larger type on Globe 4 Kids than on other globes.
As a homeschooling family, we needed a globe. We have ended up with TWO somehow, not including the Vtech one http://www.epinions.com/review/Vtech_Fly_and_Learn_Globe/content_413580496516 . We have one large globe that does show more details and that one stays downstairs in the living room where we mainly homeschool. The Globe 4 Kids stays in my daughter's bedroom for the most part--she has been afraid of the dark and anything that lights up or glows goes there. Of course when we have children over, she will bring it down to show it off. She is very proud of her very own globe.
Dislikes:
I am really concerned by the base of this Globe 4 Kids. It is plastic and does not look very sturdy to me. It looks fragile. This globe does not show all of the states in the US nor provinces in other countries. I saw some people who had bought this globe say that the light showed through the halves of the globe, ours does not do this.
Final conclusion:
Globe 4 Kids is a great globe to get a child interested in other parts of the world. We are happy with the globe but not happy with the online store where it was purchased. www.netshops.com had sent us 2 globes: one was crushed and the other was half in German. The illumination in this globe makes this an easy decision...a great globe for children! I do hope that the stand is not as fragile as it looks!
