| neosmom's Full Review: Rescue Heroes - Cliff Hanger Air Rescue Specialist |
We purchased Cliff Hanger for two reasons:
The first was price. All of these "figure and vehicle" Rescue Heroes sell everywhere for $14.99. We found some for $7.99 and so we purchased all three that were on the shelf that my son didn't already own.
The second reason we bought this figure is that Cliff Hanger is one of the "stars" in one of my son's Rescue Hero videos. Whenever there is a new and exciting hero in one of the episodes, we hear all about it until we go buy the matching figure. This worked out really great because the action figure looks and works almost identical to what my son saw in the episode.
Cliff is a standard Rescue Hero figure. The hang glider is a backpack vehicle. It hooks on to his back and then comes up over his shoulders where there are two handles that drop right into Cliff's hands for stability. On the back of this "vehicle" is a bright orange hang glider. It has three plastic spines with orange felt spread between them. When you squeeze these orange spines together, the hang glider closes up. Then there is a button you push to make the glider pop out. On the front is a clamp. In the video, Cliff uses this clamp to help carry another Hero off to safety. I will tell you that this glider does not work well with any other figures that I have tried it out on. Most of their shoulders are too big to handle this unit. A good thing to keep in mind if your child likes to trade out his Rescue Heroes packs and accessories a lot.
My son just loves this figure and after owning it for a couple months it still gets tons of play time. He never tires of pushing the button and watching the glider pop open. The clamp really isn't designed to hold much of anything which could probably be frustrating to some children. However, my son uses it to pick up and carry off the other Rescue Heroes (like he saw in the video) and he just holds on to both figures so the guy in the clamp doesn't fall out. He also loves to pick up old paper towel rolls which are light enough to easily be carried along.
I love this figure because he is so brightly colored. It makes him super easy to find on those days when we are frantically searching for "that lost toy". And I have never stepped on him because I didn't notice him.
If my son had played with this figure at a friends house before I found it at the low price, and I had seen this kind of excitement, I would have rushed out and purchased it at the usual $14.99 without hesitation. You get lots of bang for your buck.
