| bonniesayers's Full Review: Rescue Heroes: Gil Gripper - Scuba Diver Action Fi... |
On a recent Saturday afternoon my just turned seven-year old son and I headed to Toys R Us to utilize a gift card his father had given him. After scouring the shelves and aisles for something enticing he stopped at the Rescue Heroes section beaming with joy at the selections.
Rescue Heroes: Gil Gripper Scuba Diver Action Figure was chosen for the everyday low price of $7.99. The website to peruse for other Rescue Heroes figures is http://www.fisher-price.com/us/rescueheroes/products. They list the approximate retail price at $11.00 for #78309. Our figure looks exactly like the one listed at kbtoys.com selling for $9.99, located here: http://www.kbtoys.com/toys/product.html?PID=1361839. To find this at amazon.com under the toys section, use Fisher-Price Rescue Heroes Extreme Nature Heroes: Gil Gripper in your search, although this is a different color scheme as well.
Rescue Heroes: Gil Gripper Scuba Diver Action Figure is part of the Body Force series where each member comes to life. He stands close to seven feet tall wearing his blue flippers. His wetsuit is neon green and black with purple straps. He seems to be wearing neon green wristbands and his hands or gloves are purple as well. His right hand is in an open position to clasp the attachments while his left hand is facing back in a semi-open position. The arms are moveable and turn completely around, as does his head.
Located on the back of Rescue Heroes: Gil Gripper Scuba Diver Action Figure is a button, known as the backpack connector, that when pushed moves his feet as if he were swimming underneath the ocean. He has a silly looking grin with his hair hidden by a cap. The next piece to attach would be the removable black mask and snorkel. This just snaps on over his head and is easy to come off. The two red oxygen tanks are hooked onto a black backpack that has the Fisher-Price logo. A neon green hose is permanently attached to a purple clamp that is called the gripping claw for aiding and assisting other divers who may have been shipwrecked.
Rumor also has it that he has freed ocean animals from seaweed. Rescue Heroes: Gil Gripper Scuba Diver Action Figure will speed through the water to help those who cannot escape from the rough waters below. The back of the oxygen tanks is a slot to slide over the backpack connector for easy attaching to Rescue Heroes: Gil Gripper Scuba Diver Action Figure. Once that is in place you can simply press the backpack to move his flippers through the water.
The gripping claw has a purple handle to press down and open and can fit any objects that are 2 ½ inches wide in its grip. There is also a purple knob that fits perfectly into Rescue Heroes: Gil Gripper Scuba Diver Action Figure right hand so he can swim freely until he needs to rescue something. Once he spots trouble he can pull out the purple handle and push open the claw for entrapment or to free an object, whatever the case may be. This will not work on his left hand and I would suggest waiting to put on his mask and snorkel till the last minute since it keeps coming off when I attempt to attach the accessories.
To practice using the gripping claw you can place the mask and snorkel inside and when you want to store the Rescue Heroes: Gil Gripper Scuba Diver Action Figure he stands up with the claw resting beside him easier than inserted into his hand. You will have to maneuver his flippers a bit in order to keep him steady while he is standing on a shelf or counter for a breather.
We have not tried him yet in the tub but I would see this as a toy that would work well in there as well as in the pool for the summer season. Rescue Heroes: Gil Gripper Scuba Diver Action Figure has proven to be the diver with all the right moves and has the strength as noted in his muscular build to rescue anyone lost at sea. My son has numerous whales, sharks and other sea creature animals that have received help from Rescue Heroes: Gil Gripper Scuba Diver Action Figure. We also have the three parts of the Free Willy movies as well as Zeuss and Roxanne that show divers in the water with these animals. When my son is watching them he likes to imitate what they are doing and use the Rescue Heroes: Gil Gripper Scuba Diver Action Figure.
The age recommendation for the Rescue Heroes action figures starts at three and is well suited for children up to ten or twelve, according to the sites I visit. There is another boy in my younger sons preschool class who is also autistic like my two sons and he just veers right to these figures when he comes over. It is nice to see both my kids explore their imagination with these interesting characters. My son knows that without the mask and snorkel Rescue Heroes: Gil Gripper Scuba Diver Action Figure will not be able to breathe.
Rescue Heroes: Gil Gripper Scuba Diver Action Figure needs no batteries and is made of strong plastic. He is very colorful decked out in his scuba gear with all the details included on his items. Pressing the buttons and attaching his accessories helps children work on their fine motor skills and sparks their minds into exploring the wonders of the world beneath the ocean.
